What is everyone reading?

I am reading Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah, and I am loving it! Reminds me a lot of Summer Sisters by Judy Blume.

  • I just started Paul Schaffer's autobiography, and it's really interesting - especially for anyone who loves music!

I believe ArcticFox read that or got that for a book club talk or something.

I am reading Water For Elephants.  I just started so no opinion yet.

  • Currently reading two things.  Michael J. Fox's new book "Always Looking Up", and James Patterson "Mary Mary".  Both are good so far.

Will do!  Also, if you want to keep track of books and get good rec's for books, try goodreads.  You can get to it through facebook.  I love using that to keep track of what I read and what people like.

  • I agree with Dar#, goodreads.com is a great website...I use it too.

I'm reading, "When in Rome....A Novel of Piazzas and Passion" by Gemma Townley.  I just started, so I'm only about 12 pages in.

I am also reading, "Love and Fertility" by Kristen Magnacca.  I also just started reading this so I'm only about 2 pages into it.

He's the band leader on Late Night with David Letterman.

  • I just "read" (listened to the audiobook) of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  I am eagerly awaiting getting the second one in the series from my library.  DH and I also "read" The Lost Symbol a few weeks ago, I really liked listening to it with him and discussing, etc.  I have a giant stack of books planned for my summer.  Seriously, like everytime I went to Costco this spring I ended up leaving with at least one book.  I have probably 10-12ish adult books (Jodi Picoult, Anita, Shreve, Phillippa Gregory, etc) and 10-12ish kid books to read.  The kid books are ones that I will be teaching next year, so that's bascially my summer homework, but I like to alternate a kid book with an adult book, or have one of each going at the same time.

  • LOVED Water For Elephants and The Secret Life of Bees was great too.

I'm currently reading The Ultimate Guide to Network Marketing. It's so intriguing - I know you're all jealous.... ;-)

What did you think of it?  I feel his books are getting very cookie cutter.  I am predicting the ending's and they all seem the same, just different names and places.

  • I just finished The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (really good!) and I am waiting for the rest of the series to come in at the library.

I liked it.  I haven't read anything else by him except The DaVinci Code.  It was fairly predictable, but mostly we liked hearing about DC and the various places around here that we now recognize.

I just had to go look up the title, it's "We'll Be Here for the Rest of Our Lives".  It's pretty funny - he has some cool stories about how he got into music, and backstage stories with guests from the Letterman Show.

I also recently read Another Day in the Frontal Lobe, another autobiography about a female brain surgeon (I was on kind of a biography kick for a while, lol) breaking into the VERY male-dominated field.  It was really interesting, even to this non-science gal!

I've read everything he's written and was SO excited for The Lost Symbol when it came out but was disappointed because they are all starting to sound the same.  I liked Angels and Demons best but that's probably because it was the first one I read by Dan Brown so it was still new to me.  I do enjoy hearing about all the DC stuff having been there a few times.

The author of the Lovely Bones wrote a memoir... Lucky... now that book scared the crapout of me... it takes place at Syracuse Univ. when the author was a student there... and I read that book while I was still attending SU!

  • I have two books going Nuture Shock- its about myths of child-rearing and I'm just starting my sister's keeper...
