Hey thanks for the reco for Four Paws!

DH and I checked it out and that's where we decided we'll board Toby for the first time. We looked at a traditional kennel (boo! scary and depressing!), a lady that dog-sits out of her home, and a couple Doggy Day Care style kennels. The dog sitting lady would have been good if Toby weren't such a high risk escape artist and her home weren't right on a busy street...that made me too nervous!

We loved the people, philosophy, and look/feel of Four Paws. Hopefully Toby will learn how to play with the other dogs while he's there. Today he doesn't seem to care about playing with us or other dogs...we wonder whether his previous owner bred and trained him just for hunting rabbits...

PS: In case you didn't know already, they have $50 worth of gift certificates for $25 at the Cincy Savers Half Price Cincy site. Unfortunately it's not good for boarding...but is good for doggy day care and grooming.

  • That's great!  I really hope Toby likes it there.  I'm glad you checked it out and got a good feel.  The owners (Rob and Bobbie) are a little quirky but they love the dogs and take really good care of them.  Plus, all the people they have helping them are awesome.  They really do love to be around dogs which makes me feel better about leaving Roxy. They know Roxy very well there there so you can tell them that Roxy P's mom told you about the place.  We don't get anything for referrals but I know they like to know, in case it comes up.

I don't know much about dogs but it's funny how they sometimes mirror the behavior they see in other dogs so I hope Toby learns how to play and romp and frolic (ha) while he's there!

Good to know about the coupons!  We just got a package of doggy daycare visits but I'll have to think about that for next time.

When are you boarding him? I'd be curious to know how Toby's stay goes so check back in after your vacation!

  • Ah they did ask who had referred us and since I couldn't remember your or your dog's name IRL I just said "a friend".

I do think dogs learn from each other so hopefully Toby will take some good cues and yet not learn any bad habits while he's on his mini vacation :).  I'll come back after our vacation and let you know how he likes it!

  • Great!  Good luck to Toby.

Sure - just tell them Katie P, Roxy's "mom".  That should be enough for them.  I know what you mean about knowing someone's real name vs. screen name!
