anyone know about lateral entry in nc?
one of my friends is looking into this route. She has a BA and went through the state and I guess was approved to teach but now she needs to find a position...but how does that work? I thought someone on here may have experience or know more about it. Where to apply and who to contact. I know a lot of places are laying off like Meck Co. but any advice is helpful!
Thanks!
Re: anyone know about lateral entry in nc?
I was lateral entry. I am confused what you are asking I think. She sent everything into the organization that approved her to teach through lateral entry and now she just needs a position? If this is the case finding a position is all up to her. She has to find a job just like anyone else would with a license. There isn't any extra help because she is lateral entry. In fact, its much harder to find a position. There is probably very little chance she will find a job in a more populated county - for example out here in Wake County they simply do not take lateral entry very often, because they really dont need to. they have the candidates and are going to give preference over licensed applicants any day. I went to a smaller more rural county to get my job. It is going to be tough getting a teaching job this year with layoffs... and there are even more layoffs coming next year.
I know this whole post is kinda a downer but thats what I know! good luck!
This...I got laid off/non renewed in Durham county...they can do absolutely no hiring.
