The trip up went smoothly (to VT), we did fine in the hotel too (with the kids, that is.. sleeping etc).
The wedding was amazing! I was kind of doubting if some stuff would be good, but it was fantastic. My cousin was gorgeous, the food was unique (from samosas to mushroom-blue cheese lasagna) and the weather turned out to be so good. The ceremony was so sweet and included a 'warming of the rings' where they pass them throughout the audience for people to hold (we were outside).
The food was all vegetarian and local - like local cheese, mushrooms, asparagus, breads, etc. The plates were made from large rainforest leaves, the forks/spoons/etc were also biodegradable. There were 3 garbage cans - 'compost', 'landfill' and 'recycle' and there was virtually nothing going to the landfill.
At the end, they had contra dancing. It was by no means cheesy (which did cross my mind). They had fiddlers/guitarists and a caller - the caller was a woman who told everyone how to dance. The music was amazing and it was so much fun. There was no way you could listen to that music and not move to it. I have been to so many weddings where I don't like the music, but this was just great, and the 3 year olds were dancing with 80 year olds, it was so nice.
It was such a good time, and dancing barefoot in the grass are a few of the wonderful memories we will have ![]()
Re: Back from my cousin's wedding
I thought about you as I sat in Lake George traffic on Friday night. Sounds like a wonderful time. I saw your FB pics, and it looked amazing!
