... ok, so I knew it was coming eventually, I just wasn't ready for when it came.... I had a rough weekend dealing with the uncertainty of work and have a meeting with HR scheduled for tomorrow.
But... my boss gave me the heads up that the head guy will be booking sometime with me today to let me know what my end date will be... ha... just got stopped in mid sentence to go talk to him. Good news, I didn't cry! but anyone could see the disappointment on my face. Ok.. and now I'm crying, but at least I'm alone at my desk and can run out for lunch for a bit.
(All this is assuming I can't find something else internally until then, but I could be unemployed by the end of the summer
- I'm sure this message makes no sense to the average reader)
Re: Nothing like being reduced to the verge of tears at work...
Ya, this came as a result of an acquistion. So, I had been distracting myself with work and hoping that at the end of the day they would have a job that they would want to put me in. There are a numbe of Job postings, but nothing is really wowing me, considering that any job they would offer would be somewhere else minimum 1hr commute from where I live (or others are in Boston).
I've been working with the same core group here for over 7 years. I'm the type that doesn't like to move around much and my career goal is to just be established in one place!
Oh well, change she is a comin' and I am vowing to do less work and focus more on finding me a job!
Thanks ladies!
Feeling better after lunch... nothing a little retail therpy couldn't cure. unfortunately, I didn't buy anything for myself, but I bought some gifts for others. (Don't worry, I will do some damage shopping in NYC next week.)
Only thing is, I don't want to waste time working right now, I would rather start focussing on finding me a job!
I know exactly how you feel. I just got told today that I didn't get the job I interviewed for a week ago
I also am the type to want to stay in one place (mostly because the whole interview process gives me anxiety). I am sure you will find something that you will love.
