St. Lucia honeymooners ...
Where did you stay? Any thoughts or comments?
I am looking into planning our next vacation. And since I can't get DH to go to this resort in Mexico, St. Lucia may be an option.
Re: St. Lucia honeymooners ...
We stayed at The Jalousie Plantation in St. Lucia. Our room/patio/private plunge pool were absolutely incredible!! The resort is built into the Pitons and we were in the highest up the montain section. We had the most beautiful view of the ocean and the Pitons. The staff was wonderful. I'm pretty picky about food so I wasn't thrilled with the food there but if you like seafood, you'll be fine. We did pay for a private dinner on the beach one night and while it was $$$$, it was totally worth it. The chef cooked the food right there on the beach and we had fabulous service. They offer an all-inclusive option but we didn't do it since we don't really drink. They were in the process of renovating when we were there but I think the renovations are done now. Our room was one of the few that had been renovated, the older ones were not nearly as nice as ours.
Jalousie is more a European resort though. Almost everyone we met or talked to was from somewhere in Europe. It's also on the opposite end of the island from the Sandals resorts. It was more expensive than any of the Sandals resorts but I really wanted something that didn't feel like a hotel and had a plunge pool. If money wasn't an object though, I'd stay at Jade Mountain!
We stayed at The Regency! We loved it! Both the Regency and Grande are beautiful. All the staff were very nice and the food was very good. I would definitely go back and hope to in a few years.
If you go and stay at The Grande, take the local tour with a guy named Charlie and he will be wearing a red shirt. The tour was awesome! He took us snorkleing, to the waterfall, to the volcano, through the fishing village, through the town and to the warm springs. He also took us to his aunts house for a home cooked meal which was awesome!
Shut up! We met this same guy! We already had some things planned and went over Christmas, so we didn't go, but I hear that's a great tour.
