I read your post about your anxiety attacks. The more DH reads about it the more he thinks that is the issue. What is so funny is that these issues only come on when its REALLY hot - which it has been for the past couple of weeks. Thats the only thing we think triggers it. What did the doctors give you for the attacks?
TIA!

Me Squeshia.
Re: KatieB
Sorry for butting in! But, my DH has kind of the same thing going on. It was horrible to deal with until it got under control. There are a couple of things to try:
1. For a quick fix - Xanax. This one you have to be careful with, though, because its addictive.
2. Getting a regular anti anxiety med - I'd recommend either paxil or sertraline. The thing with these is that its a highly individual med choice. He tried maybe four of them before settling with the sertraline. Some of the ones he tried made him worse, and some of them just didn't work. I got lucky when I had some anxiety issues going on, and tried paxil and got it right on the first try.
Definitely talk to a doctor about it. If its not terrible ALL the time, I'd say maybe just try a xanax once in a while, but if its a really regular thing.. maybe a regular med is the way to go.
Thanks for the advice! I really dont want him to get on Xanax, b.c I think it is too strong. I am hoping he can talk to one of the doctors he saw last week at the hospital about getting something just to even things out.
DH was all stressed about being on an anti anxiety med, but I told him not to worry b.c a lot of people (including me) have had to take them at different points in their lives.
Thanks so much Orangey!
hey! has he been in to see his doctor yet? the heat used to really bother me, but it hasn't gotten to me as bad this year yet.
don't do xanax. it makes you feel like you're sedated. and its hard to function normally on things like that. i have a drug similar just for emergencies, like if i'm super nervous about flying.
i take Zoloft daily, which is the same as sertraline. it is an antidepressant, but is commonly used for anxiety as well. have been on it almost a year and love it. i feel absolutely normal and i'm more myself now than i was when i was suffering with the anxiety. i'm a better 'me' because of it. Zoloft is an SSRI, and i'd ask his doctor about SSRI meds. you can look it up online for info too. it stands for Selective Seratonin Reuptake Inhibitor. some people only need to be on it 6 months to a year, then are fine going off after.
Thanks Katie. He hasnt seen a doctor yet - appt isnt until July 5th or something like that. But he is going to see if he can track down the doctors he dealt with at the hospital last week and see if they think that these are anxiety issues.
I took Zoloft for awhile and loved it - totally kept me calm during intense situations.
