Bleeding during sex?

OK. Not to digust anyone but I need some advice. Here lately when Dh and I have sex, i start bleeding in the middle of it. It doesn't hurtbut talk about ruining the moment. I am not on my period when this is happening. I have went to the doctor and they did pap tests, and check for std's. She told me that my cerix was inflammed and prescribed me some antibotics. I took all of them. She told me that it could also be from not being wet before we do the deed. Anyways, tests all came back negative. DH and I didn't do it for a while to give myself time to heal. We're not haveing rough sex, he takes it slow and soft with me and he's an average sized guy if you know what i'm talking about and it's not hurting. DH is very worried about me and I'm starting to get worried myself. I don't want to go back to the doctor becasue I feel like if she was going to find something, she would have found it the first time. Has this happened to anyone? Is it normal? Please help.

Re: Bleeding during sex?

  • I haven't had any experience with what your talking about.  I did find a list of conditions that would cause bleeding after sex... I would think it would be approximately the same as during.  Maybe you could WebMD these and see if you have any of the other symptoms?  Otherwise, I would consider seeking a second opinion.  Good Luck! http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/symptoms/bleeding_after_sex/causes.htm
  • Oh, and if I were you, I would make sure all of these tests have been done to be sure that your first doctor checked for everything she should have.

  • Did you doctor do an exam, where she actually looked at everything, rather than just a swab and your done? There could be a small tear, that could be getting agitated when your having sex. I would call your dr. and ask if she saw a tear, or if she was looking for anything like that.
  • It's fairly normal.  I've had it many times, as have both of my sisters. Doc says it tends to happen to gals who are shaped certain ways, and since we're sisters, not that we compare, but we are most likely shaped similarly.  It can be slightly embarrassing at times, but try not to let it bug you.  As long as your gyn has checked you out, it could just happen every now and then.
As my fiance is fond of saying, "Just Relax....."
  • Is it a new occurance or something that has been happening for a while?

Just echoing the advice of pp's on here.  It's very important to make sure your physician gives you a THOROUGH exam, more than only checking for STDs/infection.  Generally speaking it's unusual to have bleeding during sex and can be of concern medically (not to scare you, just being upfront).  The only way to know for sure it's a "technical difficulty" is to fully rule out that there is anything medically wrong.  Until you know for sure what is going on, you won't know where to start looking for a solution.

I realize it may be uncomfortable to go back to you physician again for the same issue, but if the problem persists it is the most effective way to get answers.  Be proactive when it comes to you're own health and healthcare!

  • I had this happen for over a year. Talk about frustrating! I was back to the gyn on a monthly basis before we finally got it figured out. I had cervical ectropion. Like you, my cervix was inflamed and irritated- every time we would have sex, it would irritate it and bleed. It got to the point where I was spotting all the time- sex or no sex.

My gyn performed a cryosurgery of the cervix, to freeze off all the inflamed cells, and things have been great ever since!

I don't know if this is what you have, but I might go back to the gyn and have them take a look to see if your cervix still appears inflamed after the antibiotics.

    Hope this helps!

I was going to say it sounded like cervical erosion, which is similar:
