So the AC unit has a leak... We don't know how bad and it would cost $125 an hour for them to find it with only a 90% chance of it being fixable. DH and I are looking at $4000-4500 to replace it. So we're getting it charged up and if it is a fast leak we'll run it till it's out again. If we have the money at that point, we'll replace it, but if not, we'll get window AC units until we do have the money... This sucks...

Ok, they used Peachtree Service Experts. There's a $25 off coupon on their website for a first-time service call:

ugh, so sorry about this! My friend's central air just went out, too and she said it would cost tons of money to replace...
being a homeowner sucks sometimes!!!
Our central air went out before Memorial Day. We're renters, so we're trying to walk the fine line between goading the apartment manager into making the repair actually HAPPEN and not pissing her off (which would be especially bad, since she's our next-door neighbor).I think that we are seriously going to ask for a break on our rent if it's not fixed by the end of the month. We could have found much cheaper places to rent if we hadn't wanted the air conditioning!
I can't imagine living in Georgia with no AC. I'm cranky as a bear up here in the North!
I'm so sorry about this!!!! Maybe something will work out for you to get it fixed! DH is a definite fan of the AC being on/below 69 at all times, so he wouldn't be dealing well with no/little AC!
We have been renovating our house since the end of last year. The previous owners were only using 1 window unit in the living room to cool the whole house. We decided to go ahead and put in a heat pump while we were renovating so they could put all the ducts in the attic and such...it was installed the week before the wedding! It's wonderful and the people that were helping paint while we were on our HM were very thankful it was installed! Even if we aren't living there yet, it's nice to know it'll be cool when we get moved in! Sending nestie vibes your way!
AWESOME!!!!
