NJ Nestie visiting the area!

I'm bringing my 4 year old with me.  Any recs on fun things I can do with him?  We'll be in the area for 3 weeks.

TIA

Re: NJ Nestie visiting the area!

  • This time of year it is extremely hot in Texas. If you're sensitive to heat I would suggest some indoor activities.

The museum of natural science has some great kids programs and I always enjoyed going there as a kid : http://www.natureandscience.org/

The Dallas Museum of Art may not sounds super exciting to a little one, but the First Tuesday of every month kids get in free and they shape their programs that day to cater to kids, not adults: http://www.dm-art.org/Family/FirstTuesdays/index.htm

If you're in the Uptown Area and want to do a little shopping, there is a trolley that takes you all the way from the Dallas Museum of Art and on into Uptown for free. There are a lot of yuppies that live there (Me!) but good restaurants (I highly recommend Primos) It might be cool for him to take an actual trolley ride.

There is ice skating in the galleria mall plus the usual mall activities. Right down from the mall in Addison is a restaurant called the magic time machine where your waiters dress like characters from different periods. Really good atmosphere. http://www.natureandscience.org/

Six flags Hurricane Harbor and the Normal Six flags is in Arlington. Right now they are doing a special where everyone gets in kids price.

I recommend the  Hawaiian Falls water parks however because they allow you to bring your own food/coolers in and are have more "little kid" friendly rides: http://www.hfalls.com/

Celebration Station is kind of like an overgrown chuckie cheese but I always thought it was neat as a kid - haven't been there in years though. They have go karts, batting cages, games, etc.: http://www.celebrationstation.com/index.php?location_id=4&section_id=11

I hope that's at least a little help.  If you have any more questions, just let me know.

Just another day in never never land. Photobucket
  • Thank you so much!  My parents live in Ft. Worth so we'll be staying with them.  This is the longest I'll have been in the area in years and the first time staying this long with my son.  I appreciate all the recs!
