How's your house/yard/family?

We went to the basement with C around 1am. He was a trooper and slept on me the whole time, only once asking (when DH was trying to find the news) if he could watch TV.

All our backyard toys are still where they were left, including the cover over his little inflatable pool. Nothing blew over, nothing flooded.

That lightning was something else! I've never seen it flashing so continuously.

Re: How's your house/yard/family?

  • One limb in our driveway which compared to Memorial Day, was a small limb.  It was a very long night; in addition to dealing with the storm, Amelia was having a hard time going to sleep and staying asleep. I don't think it was storm related. I probably got about 2 hours of sleep, if that.
  • Everything for us is fine.  We didn't hear the sirens, just woke up for a minute from the thunder. Logan's inflatable pool (empty) is still where we left it too.
  • I woke up at 1 a.m. to the sound of the tornado sirens.  That's a little scary!  That was a crazy storm that went through.  We're fine though.

  • Slept right through it, thunder, lightening, and siren. What did wake me up was the sound of our battery backup on our server and the one in the living room going off at 3:30am.

Dh checked the log and said that we didn't lose power until after the storm went through. Fantastic! Oh yeah it just our half of the street. Everything else has power except Charlie's Party Store.

  • That was a crazy storm.  I woke up from the thunder around midnight.  We didn't hear any tornado sirens and everything seems to be fine.  The kitty was pretty unhappy.
  • I was awake when the thunder & lightning started.  I didn't know it was going to be such an intense storm otherwise I would have stayed up to watch it!  I didn't fully sleep and remember how intense some of the noise was.  Especially the rain!

No damage in my neighborhood.  I haven't checked our basement, so we'll see if there is a little water.

Zoey was the only one in our house who listened to WOOD TV and sought cover in the lowest level of the house.  She was in the basement under the recliner.  The rest of us stayed in bed.

    LOL! Funny kitty :)

  • It was crazy!  That lightning was nuts!  We went downstairs, all three of us (Jamie, Lexi-pup and me) snuggled on the couch under a blanket until it passed.  Yard looks fine, but my lilies are a little beaten!

  • It's the first time in ages I've been woken up from a storm. I opened my sleepy eyes, watched the flashing lightening, heard the pounding rain and crazy wind, told myself it would be okay and passed out again. Somehow missed the tornado sirens, if I'd heard them I'm sure we would have relocated to the basement. Wish I'd stayed up to watch it for a bit, but sleep won out. The only damage that I can see is a small limb down across the street, everything else looks like we just got rained on. Glad everyone is okay. Smile
  • All is well by us.  I rarely wake up to storms, but awoke about 1:30.  I got nervous when I saw the Tornado Warning and they said there was funnel cloud about 10 miles north of us.  I wanted to go downstairs, but Andy wanted to sleep in bed and ignore me. :-)  I was awake for about an hour until it had passed.  Toby didn't even move and Gordie only got up to follow me as I peered out various windows.

I was in a dead sleep, and didn't really wake up to the storm until the sirens went off, then I was wide awake!  It was really windy, and I thought our tree was going to fall on the house.  We went into the basement around 1:15 and hungout until about 1:45 then went upstairs  to watch the weather.  Severe weather doesn't normally scare me, but last night was a different story.  I was freaking out!  Getting woken up out of a dead sleep by tornado sirens may have been part of it though Stick out tongue No real damage to anything, just stuff blown over and some branches in the yard.

I was very disoriented when the sirens woke me up, thinking it was a fluke, especially because it was so quiet and still outside...but XN went downstairs to the TV and realized it was the real deal. I threw on a pair of jeans and then it was like a switch turned on and we were hit full force with the storm. The power surges were so strong that our (landline) phone rang briefly a few times.

To get to our basement (poured concrete pit) you have to go outside, so that was unnerving. We spent about a half hour standing in the basement, watching the rainwater gush in under the door and make a nice pool under our feet and picking leaves out of our hair and clothing.

Poor XN is on call this week (of course) and all the network systems failed (of course) so after trying to fix that for a few hours he had to go in to work at 3 a.m. I haven't seen him so I trust that all is well now.

The same for me too. I had an unsettling feeling last night too; maybe because it was the first tornado warning we had with the kids and I don't trust the tree in our driveway.  Storms never phase Brian and at one point in time he said "that is the west side of the house, correct? so we are on the east side so we are in the safest spot right?"  "And then he was worried about Ozzie upstairs. Oz can't handle the basement steps anymore so we couldn't bring him down.

Haha!  I had one of those too!  ^^^

OK, so I didn't even know there was a tornado warning until I read all of the updates on FB this morning.  I thought it was just a bad thunderstorm.  H got up to check the gutters outside, and I stayed in bed with one of the cats.  Our basement flooded afuckingain.  I'm really sick of all this rain. Le sigh.  We never heard any sirens, and we never lost power.

H was in the basement using the shop vac to get the water up, and Nico had already beat him down there when the thunder started, so I guess they were safe.  I'll be waiting for my Pet Mother of the Year award since I stayed upstairs and ignored the storm and other two cats, and kept trying to sleep.  haha.

My neighborhood didn't look like it got hit bad this morning when I was leaving for work - like I said, I knew nothing about a tornado until reading about it.  Our garbage and recycling were both outside when we went to bed, and everything was still upright in the bins.  I'll have to check the plant situation tonight to see how bad they got beat down from the rain.
