I am not sure if anyone is around but I wanted to check in. Thank you so much Paula and Kristin for updating for me! As I'm sure you saw on facebook I had Dawson on Thursday June 17th. I started feeling off when I went to bed on Wednesday night and didn't really sleep much. I got up around 12:30 really uncomfortable and started having regular contractions around 1am. I called the hospital around 2, talked to a midwife, she told me she would call me back in an hour. When I talked to her around 3 she told me to come in. We got ready and got to the hospital around 4. They checked me and said I was at 3cm, and in active labor. After that things kind of happened in a blur.
I got an epidural around 9 ish and things were good for awhile
It did slow down my labor though so they started the pitocin. When I was about 5cm dilated my water broke. I rested off and on throughout the day, they told me to sleep but with someone touching you and checking you every few minutes it's hard to do that. The midwife came in around 4 to check me and I thought I would maybe be at 6 or 7, she was like umm are you ready to be a mom? And I was like um, yea, thinking she was just asking lol, but she was like no you are at 10 and ready to push. There was some not good things in between like at one point they gave me a concentrated dose of more of the epidural medicine becuase mine was wearing off but I think they gave me too much because I ended up feeling like I couldn't breath, that was really scary but overall I had a pretty good birth experience.
She gave me a whole speech about how with first babies you can sometimes push for hours so I got ready for a long process. I ended up pushing for 15 minutes, he was definatley ready to come out!
So he was born at 4:46 p.m, he weighed 8lbs, 13 oz and is 20inches. Jeremy and I are ridiculously in love with him. He is the sweetest baby ever and I already don't know what I would do without. He is just amazing.
We got home on Saturday, things are going pretty well. He definately has his days and nights mixed up but I'm sure that will straighten out eventually. Jeremy is home with me till next Sunday night so we have been sleeping in shifts. I dread him going back to work, but I am sure I will get a routine down.
I tore pretty badly (sorry TMI) so I am alittle uncomforable but it could be worse.
Thank you for all the nice texts and messages. You girls are seriously the best. It's so odd not going to work, I have worked in some form since I was 14 so this is an adjustment!
Re: Hi girls!
Hi Jo! I'm so happy to hear things are going well and you didn't have to push that long! Dawson will get his nights and days straightened out soon
Enjoy your time with him and give him lots of kisses for me! Email me anytime if you have any questions at all!
Enjoy your time off with him and let Jeremy help you out. You need to rest and heal up too.
(I had the stiches too, Tucks pads are a gift from God as is the peri bottle).
Can't wait to see more pictures of the little guy, he is so cute from thew few that were on FB.
As Kristen said, if you have any questions let me know, although I'm a little bit rusty on the new born stage (lol!)
Congrats Jo!
I TOLD you it would be Thursday!
Congrats!!
