I posted about the sale of my Grandparent's house last week...it was actually sold to a girl who I went to high school with and her FI. She was a nice girl back then, and my mom said she was very sweet at the closing too. Yay!
The original plan was for my mom to keep all the proceeds from the house sale (even though my sister and I were 1/3 "owners" too). Apparently the title company couldn't "skip" my sister and I for payment b/c we are the only ones blood related to my grandparent's (my dad's parents).
A check arrived today for a small portion of the sale. It is enough to save some, and use the rest to pay off our credit cards and personal loan from the plumbing, electrical, and medical costs.
Paying those things off free's up enough of our monthly income so that I can stay home with Chiclet for at least 4 months instead of having to take a job as soon as I can actually find one when my unemployment runs out in September.
The job market still sucks for my role, still no opportunities that I qualify for - BUT the jobs are getting close to my qualifications. They are hiring people only about 3 years more experienced than I am now...as opposed to only wanting 15+ years a few months ago. Getting closer!
Re: So Blessed
Well that's a nice littler surprise. I'm glad the sale is final and that your grandparents' home went to good owners.
Lots of luck and good vibes for you to find a job when needed and that it's something you can really enjoy!
