in Detroit at a conference...

and now I'm questioning my desires to move to Denver or England for DH's career. 2 opportunities that would be great for the other goals I have (seeing the world, having a baby, living close to family (Denver), and other things), but could be bad moves for my career. The importance of my career fluctuates.

The good news - now maybe all 3 options (including staying put) are seeming good to me right now. Either get to keep on a great career path and make more money with 2 good incomes, move closer to family and live in the mountains, or move abroad for 3 years and not need to work if I didn't want to so be able to have a baby and SAH for awhile b/c of free rent and be able to travel all over Europe for cheap.

I'll sleep on this before telling DH that I'm having doubts about what I was so sure about only a couple of weeks ago.

Just felt like blabbing after a couple of beers :-) And I'm at a conference, so it is ok that I was drinking on a Monday night.

Re: in Detroit at a conference...

  • Ugh! Isn't that just the worst part about making big decisions?! There's no guarantee about how things will turn out in the short & long terms. It sounds like all 3 have serious pros & cons. Maybe it would help if you thought about how you want your life to be in 5 years, 10 years, 20 years, retirement age?

DH & I have talked about this a lot since we want to move to Denver. Neither one of us can see ourselves retiring and being old & gray in CA. Just not practical (financially) for us. Retirement is a ways off... I know... but it's something we have to think about & consider.

  • I hope you can reach to the decision that makes you happier. And whatever you decide, once you make the decision don't second guess yourself...remember you chose that for a reason.

    Enjoy Detroit! Smile

  • Those are some big decisions to make! I wish you the best :) Really neither would be a bad option, but you don't want to look back and wish you had taken an opportunity that you pass-up... Staying put would be the easy thing, but you should follow your heart :)
  • You all probably think I'm the most confused person with all of my posts!! If only I could travel the world, have babies and be able to spend a good amount of time with them, live close to my parents and siblings, AND have a strong career. haha.
