Birthday Gift Help

My best friend through HS & college is turning 30. We have been dreading turning 30 since we were 18. In college we talked about how we would cry etc. So now 30 is almost here. We are both dealing with it pretty well. I want to mail her something. Not sure what though. She has 4 kids & I want it to be all about her. I'm not sure if there is a spa where she lives etc. I guess I could look online. Any ideas?

Re: Birthday Gift Help

  • Give her a gift certificate to Spa Finder. She can go to whatever spa she wants with it.
  • My most favorite gift that I did for a girlfriend, when she turned 30. I did a throwback to the year that she was born. I did lots of research, made a cd from all the popular groups - it was a great mix from the year 1977. Make it a gift basket, something popular from that year from toys to gadgets...something random and fun. They even have cards from the most popular items/movies/quotes for it, too.

You could have so much fun with this. Or you could do a goodbye 20s gift...like everything crazy and fun. Beer helmet, tiaras, college-stuff, pictures of you two together with room for a new picture of you two, shot glasses with liquor, whatever crazy or fun stuff that you gals did together...fun memorable times. ;-)

One of my friends and I refer to our birthdays now in the anniversary of our 29th birthday, which makes us feel better about being in the 30's... :)  You could work that in somehow- Happy Anniversary of your 29th birthday!

I don't really have any good gift ideas; both of the suggestions above sound good!

My mom did this for years. Actually, she was 29 until I was in my 20s. She could pass as my sister so it worked for her but anyway not the point. We ALWAYS got her things about being 29 again. I think she's got everything from magnets, to t-shirts, to wine glasses. You name it, she probably owns it. Which she said she was going to gift to me on my 30th birthday (she's since upped her age to 39 to be more "realistic" haha)

I don't have much in the way of suggestions - the spa finder gift card is really nice and you could throw in a bottle of wine (or whatever her drink of choice is) for her to enjoy. If you know her favorite restaurant you could get a gift-card from them but that might be hard if they aren't a chain type restaurant.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this 29 idea.  This is what I am going to do.  I already though of the items I am going to buy and send her.   Some of our favorites from college to celebrating 29 again. Thanks girls!
