Where do you buy curtains?

We have so many windows now that we don't have near enough curtains for all of them.  I've found a few that I like but I want to make sure I don't go overboard.  Where do you like to buy affordable curtains?  Thanks!

Re: Where do you buy curtains?

  • The ones in the living and dining room are from Ikea. They're just solid white linen ones and I love them. The office has thermal curtains from Target. I don't love them, so much, but they were more about function and DH bought them on an impulse when I wasn't around. The bedroom curtains are made of a bedspread from Urban Outfitters. They actually sell curtains in the same fabric, but it would have cost twice as much for the panels than the bedspread, which was more fabric. I bought it and MIL sewed them for me.
  • If you can sew, that's probably your best route.  But, I've had luck at World Market for simple panels.

world market has some good affordable ones. i can usually find some at Pier 1 that i like but they're usually more than i care to pay for per panel.

  • if i don't need a bunch of matching ones (maybe a couple), i would probably start with tjmaxx or ross.  if i need more custom-fitting ones or many multiples, i might try jcpenny.

  • I have made my own, I am very picky about curtains, it should have wonderful material (I don't know why, it's not like anyone is going to touch them!! So for what I wanted it was cheaper for me to make them myself. If you like I can help you make them.
  • Anna's Linens and Garden Ridge are my first two "go-to" stores.  There is also World Market, Tuesday Morning, Ross, & Walmart.

  • I'm just repeating the others... I check TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross and even BigLots  first.  For really LONG windows, Ikea is great because they are ridiculously long and come with the no-sew iron on hemming stuff.

  • The last two times I bought curtains I got them at Bed Bath and Beyond.

  • Thanks for the ideas.

TX-Bride - I may go price material and see if it makes more sense for me to buy or make them.  I'll totally hit you up if it looks like I should make them.  I have a sewing machine I just don't really know how to use it!  Thanks.
