bobbi-pins

I had my hair done in an up-do over the weekend for a wedding, and now I have about 200 bobbipins left over....any ideas on what I can do with them?  I won't use them, my hair is either up or in a ponytail most days.  Are they recyclable?

Re: bobbi-pins

  • Do you have a friend that could use them?
  • Unfortunately no.  I thought about washing them and taking them to a salon, but pretty sure I'll just get a weird look and they'll go in the trash anyway.Stick out tongue
  • I would try Freecycle then. You never know what someone might take for free!

Do you have any shelters nearby?  Something like that might take them especially if it's a women and children shelter.

  • Do you have nearby, or know anybody associated with, a dance team / cheerleading team?  We used a million bobby pins when I was performing, and they always get too worn out and have to be thrown away eventually.  Maybe just wash them and take them to a nearby studio, tell them you know it is a little different but that you didn't want them to go to waste and they were only used once and were washed.
  • Good ideas!  I'll definitely look into a shelter/dance studio.  Thanks!
  • If they're still closed tight, they make a handy replacement for paper clips around the house. You can also use them to secure food bags stay closed (after washing of course).
