Long Term: would like to be at least 150 or less by the time we start TTC

  • Starting weight: 224 at 5'10"Short term goal (in how many weeks/months): I don't put time limits on it.  I'm just working towards the next 5 pounds lost marker.  Long term goal: 170I'm going to add another too... Fitness goal: to beat my half marathon time of last year by 20 minutes. (race is in October) Last time I did ww I got down to 193 then hit a mental wall.  I've always had a weight issue and that was the "smallest" I had been since high school and I was honestly uncomfortable with it.  The psychology of losing weight (especially when you have a lot to lose) is weird.  Anyways, here's to getting to goal and staying there this time around =)

  • Weighed in this morning: from 224 to 198.8!  That's -4.2 lbs!

I ran 4 days this week and walked with HH 3 days.  I've logged at least 2 miles per outing.  I've cut my time on the runs each time out so I'm improving!  This morning I weighed in, went for a 2.25 mile wog (walk+jog: I do intervals), went to brunch with hubby, then HH and I walked 3 miles out the trail.

Woo hoo for losing but even more so for being ACTIVE!!! =)

    How are you ladies doing?

And is being active also a priority for you or is it just weight loss?

  • Congrats Ashley that's awesome!!!

I just weighed in and I lost 2.4 lbs this week. It's been really hard for me because I get so hungry in between meals and I'm trying to stick to my daily allowance.

I was just going to do the weight loss but then, I realized in order to keep it off you have to be active too.

  • Becca: great job on the 2.4, that's awesome!!!

Initially, for most of the people at the meetings (myself included) weight loss is faster without working out but there is definitely a difference between weight loss and being truly healthy.  For me, activity actually staves off hunger so I don't feel hungry all day long.  Plus, muscle burns more calories than fat so building up muscle supports weight loss (and firms you up- both plusses!).

Whether you ladies are just trying to lose the pounds or you are making an effort to get fit at the same time, any effort is better than none!

Hope you all had a successful tracking and weight watching weekend! =)

  • HH and I are starting tomorrow....this weekend was his birthday and was a horrible eating weekend.  I did walk 3 days last week, and was going to go tonight, but didn't.  I'm going to try to walk the next few days too, after work.

  • Becky: the next meal is always the next opportunity to make healthy eating decisions.  I can't even look a day ahead, I just take each meal as it comes and each one is either an opportunity to keep staying on track or to turn it around.  So that horrible eating weekend, just forget about it! Breakfast is a new chance =)  As for the walking- good for you!!!  Eat less, move more.  Even a short 15 minute walk is better for you than 15 minutes of couch time so you don't need rigid of a walking schedule- just a few minutes ;)

  • I'm soooooo hungry!!  I'm going to be over a little with points b/c I had leftovers for lunch, which were just too many points.  I forgot how much the first week sucks, especially since we've been eating so badly lately.  And I have a mixed blessing today....not crazy busy at work (as it has been - I've been getting out late the past few shifts) but not busy means time to feel the hunger and think about food!!  And I can't even drink a whole lot of water b/c DFS is in the hospital, and you're not technically supposed to have drinks at the nurses station, so....I have a liter bottle hidden in my bag.

  • How is everyone doing so far this week?

I've stayed on track with my points and working out. I had a basketball game last night and I'm going running tonight. I also did some bosu ball ab stuff and my abs are aching =)

  • I was bad yesterday and gave into my cravings. It's so hard to cut out the things I really enjoyed eating. I did work out for an hour though after that.

  • I wish wish wish wish I had more motivation to go work out.  I REALLY want to be a runner, but everytime I have a day off (I only work 3 days), I either get sidetracked, or, to be plain honest....lazy.  I want to sit and watch TV.

Plus, I also wish I worked a decent schedule (8-4, 9-5) so that I would go to the gym after work.  Sure not going at 8pm after I get off work now!

  • Becca:  what if you don't cut them out completely but limit them instead?  Cutting things out entirely leaves you feeling deprived and most of the time even wanting it more.  At least if you allow yourself the things you enjoy just in lesser quantities, then you will feel satisfied and be able to move on from it.

Becky: all it takes is 15 minutes.  I am super lazy once I get home from work, so I change into workout clothes at work (because I'd be pissed at myself if I got all ready to workout and still just went home and sat on the couch) and I put at least 15 minutes into some kind of workout.  Usually, it ends up being longer because once I get into it I really enjoy it... it's just getting there that's the problem.  Scheduling workouts can be hard to do so maybe just try to be more active when you have 10-15 minutes to spare.  Go for a walk, do a couple crunches or push ups- anything to get moving.  More than likely, once you get going, it'll be a lot easier to get motivated.

  • Oh, and Becky:

If you're really interested in running or even if your workouts just include walking, look into nike+ if you don't have it already.  I love mine and it helps keep me motivated- I love to see the miles I've logged at up and I join challenges and keep up with friends that have it too.
