Ok I admit it- I have issues buying generics...I just feel like if I buy the name brand- it will work better (I know in my head this is not true guess I am a marketeting directors dream...LOL)so what generics do you buy that you find work just as well (or better) than the name brand?I also have an issue with Walmart- I prefer target but really is there a difference?

Re: XP: help me with this..
I buy somethings generic, like toilet paper, pain relievers, tums, liquid hand soap, paper towels, napkins, paper plates.
With food I can't get away with generics because we try to eat sort of "clean" and the generics just don't fit the bill.
When I used to be on BCP's, I didn't mind the generic versions.
DH is more likely to use generic than I am. I just have a hard time with some things. I don't mind doing medications or my BCP as generic. I tried using generic contact solution. Not good. I'll do Wegmans brand cereal too sometimes.
And when I say generic, I usually mean Wegman's brand. I don't like to use WalMart brand if I can help it. We shop WalMart for a lot of things like toiletries and packaged foods. But I cannot do their meat or produce. Need my Weggie's for that.
I use generic stuff all the time lately. (I am cheap! LOL!) About half of my prescription meds are generic. I almost always buy generic medicine (like the generic version of claritin at target -- so cheap!) Unless I have a really good coupon and can combine it with a sale, I stick to store brands for most medicines. They all work fine for me. I stick to one kind of toothpaste and that is a brand name, but that is because if I change a lot my skin breaks out.
With food, I can't do generic for some things because of the gluten free diet. But boy, when I ate things like regular pasta and cereals, I would totally buy whatever was cheapest. I buy generic cheese, yogurt and eggs though.
I buy a lot of generic household things too. For tissue and TP, I figure they are getting used for funky purposes, so why pay more to do those things! I tend to pay more for brands when it comes to cleaning supplies if they work well. I'd rather use a brand and have it work, but usually that's trial and error. (If the generic works better, I'd use that instead.)
I buy generics for most medicines, toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, paper plates, garbage bags, and I usually try the store-brand version of a lot of foods once. If it tastes OK, I will keep buying that brand if not, then back to the name-brand.
I know when I lived in Boston, the Star Market brand cheese was actually Cabot cheese - packed in the same factory in Vermont, just with a different wrapper! I imagine that most store brands work the same.
