Alive, again

Hello! I returned from Korea yesterday. Great trip, I'm sure I'll be posting pictures soon on facebook. I'm exhausted today (4 hour drive back from NYC did not help) and sick. I've had a lousy cold for over a week. The air quality in Seoul is terrible due to the pollution so I'm just starting to feel better now.

I have a sort of job interview tomorrow. I'm meeting with an HR rep at a Boston financial firm that's run by a friend of my former boss. I don't even know if there's a specific position available so I'm going in pretty blind, which I don't like. It could be anything from administration to training in finance or accounting. I hate not being able to properly prepare. In the meantime I'm trying to come up with a good answer to the question, "Why did you quit a stable job in this craptastic economy to move 4 hours north?" I'm pretty sure, "New York City and fancy rich people were eating my soul" is not an acceptable answer.

Re: Alive, again

  • Cassie, my love, so happy you are home!  And that you had a great trip.  Can't wait to see pictures.  GL on your interview tomorrow and hope you feel much much better soon. Can't wait for some details of your trip.  All these exotic vacays are makin' me jealous.

  • You could try the "I wanted to move closer to my Novembie buddy"...but I'm not sure that would go over well either.  Wink
  • I was just going to ask if anyone knew when you would be home!  I'm dying to hear about your trip!

    This!

And you could always just start singing Green Acres...
And "move closer to family" is always safe

  • Hi sweets! I'd hire you if you gave the soul-eating answer!
  • Yay, you're back!  Can't wait to hear all about the trip and see pics!  Lots of luck on the interview and get well soon!

  • Yay for being back! I'm glad you had a good time, and can't wait to hear about it and see pics.

Hope you feel better soon, and GL on the interview...I agree with a pp that 'move closer to family' is always a safe bet.

  • GL at the interview. FWIW I think a bland "to get out of the city" is totally acceptable if they ask. Also can't wait to hear about Korea. Two of my IRL friends are getting back from Korea soon! One was there for 1.5 years and is coming back engaged!
