Whoa!

We just had an earthquake!  Apparently most of southern/eastern Ontario and a good part of the states felt it.  It was kind of wierd.

Re: Whoa!

  • I didn't feel it! I knew nothing about it until I logged into Facebook and saw a bunch of locals mentioning it in their statuses. I'm so disappointed that I missed it. It's such a rare event for us. LOL

  • Weird!

I've been in a few but only felt one. I was home sick from school in grade 12 and was lying on my bed and saw the ceiling light fixture move. Then I felt the bed shake, but not the way I expected an earthquake to feel. I think I thought an earthquake would be a steady vibration, but this one was more like erratic thuds. I just laid there, not really getting it, until it was over, and then I wondered what the hell happened. I got up and wandered around the house and I didn't really figure out what it was until I looked in our backyard and saw our pool full of waves and the entire pool deck soaked from water sloshing out. I found out later that at school the grade 12 class grad photo was being taken during the quake . Everyone was standing in the field and suddenly fell- no one had realized it was an earthquake until much later, everyone thought they fell because the person behind them fell on them. They attributed it to one person's fall and the domino effect.

  • IT was actually kind of cool. A little scary and Scarlett cried a little and my cat won't leave me alone.  It was odd.

Now this story is hilarious!!! LOL

I didn't really notice it either... I thought I was shaking, not the earth, haha. My poor dog was home alone, I was out!

  • i had no idea what it was at first since i've never felt one before. I didn't say anything at first (and was wondering if my vibrating was some strange pregnancy thing) when my officemate piped up. too funny!

gave the office something to chat about for the rest of the day...

  • I didn't feel it either, and didn't know about it till the principal came over the P.A. and announced it.  I was shocked, and boy did that send the kids into a tizzy.  Good thing she didn't announce it until close to the end of the day.

  • My house was shaking like crazy. I thought it was one of the construction trucks outside driving by, as they often rattle the house a little. But it lasted for so long...went outside and saw no trucks. I figured it was an earthquake, but I had never felt one before. It was kind of cool actually!
