random food questions...

Does anyone know how much quarts and gallons of Ritas are?  We are going to a picnic, I wanted to pick some up to mix with vodka (work is driving me to want to drink!)

Birthday cakes - Pennsylvania Bakery or Dingeldein's?  Or any other places?  Suggestions for good filling/cake combos?

Re: random food questions...

  • I love Pa Bakery and Dingledein's equally.  My bday cake was from Pa Bakery and it was awesome.  I think people really enjoyed it b/c we devoured it.  We ordered Ethan's Christening cake from Dingledeins and they had filling & cake combo options on their menu so it was less decisions for me to make.  We went with a peanut butter filling and heard raves about it.

Sorry, I can't help with Rita's but I hope work eases up for you soon!

  • MMMM..... now I'm craving Dingledein cake - haha!!   I like both PA Bakery and Dingledein.

Not sure on the prices at Rita's -  Sorry - but your idea sounds yummy!

  • Sorry, I don't know about Ritas.

I'm not a fan of PA Bakery anymore.  I used to like them but now I don't...I'm probably just sick of them since my parents always buy from there and my inlaws were obsessed with them.  I'm a fan of Dingledeins and Specialty Cakes by Bob Miller in Mechanicsburg.

  • Thanks!

    Rita's was having a sale - 3 quarts for $9.

My mom is turning 70 so I want to get a special cake.  Who has better decorating?

  • I can't help with Rita's.  I've only been there once in my life but I definitely vote for Dingledeins.  My wedding cake still gets raves from guests almost 4 years after the fact.

As for decorating, we got Lesli's baby shower cake from them and we took a pic in with us of a cake we found that we loved and they were able to recreate the exact look yet match it to her nursery colors.
