?The day that Sen. Obama decided to cast a vote to not fund my son when
he was serving sent a cold chill through my body,? McCain told a
crowded rally in Pennsylvania, an electoral battleground state.
?I would suggest that Sen. Obama change shoes with me for just one day
and see what it means ? to have a loved one serving in the armed forces
and more importantly, serving in harm?s way,? she said. ?I suggest he
take a day and go watch our fine young men?and women deploy, get on
those buses and leave with a smile.?
This made me unnaturally angry this morning.
1) Obama did not support the bill because it lacked timetables. He supported a version of the bill that did include timetables.
2) McCain opposed and voted against an Iraq funding bill in '07 because it did include timetables. Wonder how that made her heart feel.
3) Something about Cindy McCain and her moneybags wanting someone else to walk in her shoes, rather than the other way around, rubs me the wrong way.
4) Something about a candidate's spouse going on the attack like this rubs me the wrong way too.
Now, I fully accept that #3 is all my bias. I'm open to the argument that #4 may be my bias too, but the only spouse I can think of taking this much of a hard line against an opponent in Bill Clinton, and I definitely took issue with that also.
#s 1 and 2 are pure fact, and IMO lend weight to ESF's argument that this campaign is like wicked dirty yo. Dirty's fair, but this has to bring a huge negative. The desperation is glaring.
Re: Cindy McCain joins the attack
I'll walk in her shoes, assuming they're Manolo Blahniks!
I purposefully avoid reading random comments from both campaigns b/c I will just get myself into a tizzy about it. I feel the same as you though re points 3 and 4 as well as Bill Clinton's behavior.
ESF's argument that this campaign is like wicked dirty yo.
Can I put that in my siggy?
Sweet!
