How to be the perfect Stepford Wife?

Completely nuts... but thats JMO I guess.
My routine goes more like this... do whatever I can to get out the door in the morning on time for work, go to work, scramble around in the evenings doing whatever errands need to be done, make dinner, clean kitchen (I am slightly neurotic and can't sleep if my kitchen is dirty), straighten up any mess that is bad enough that its making crazy, walk the dogs, relax with DH in front of the TV, go to bed. On Saturday or Sunday, I catch up, do laundry, clean the house, weed the gardens, etc.

Wait, what's this about Oprah?
Ever since we moved I've been all OCD about having a clean house. IDK why. Last night on my way to bed I saw an ant hanging out on a cabinet. So I swept the whole kitchen floor. I just did this two days ago.
But this woman exhausts me.

She must be high. I'm super negligent about my sheets, but I've been stepping it up since we moved in.

I think it's a quirk or something, like dirty sheets skeeve her out or something. You can google it. People made a huge deal about it when she mentioned it on her show.

I wish DH cleaned more... unfortunately I think he got too used to living in a dirty frat house in college. He is anal about some things (his laundry must be folded a certain away, his car is generally spotless on the inside, etc.) but wouldn't notice the floor needed vaccuuming for weeks and every time I wash the sheets (generally once a week) I hear - "didn't you just wash those?"

I have to admit that we have a cleaning lady so the only thing I do it pick up. It is one of the best things I have done for my marriage! Instead of thinking about all the housework, we have more time to focus on "us".
If I wanted to do all of the stuff that is on that list, I would have to start getting ready for bed as soon as I got home from work!!
It may just be me, but I did not see any mention of a job outside the home. Not judging by any means, but if I didn't work and LO was in school all day, my house would be much cleaner too. I also noticed an absence of phrases like "lunch with friends" or "happy hour" - both frequent occurances in my life.

Geez, I must admit that my typical routine is eerily close to this! YIKES!! Does this mean I'm a Stepford?
I wake up, make the bed, immediately start a load of laundry, get the kids and myself bathed, vacuum (twice a week), clean the bathroom (twice a week), dust and windex (twice a week) before I even go downstairs. Then I work out and we have breakfast. They watch a show while I catch up on the computer. This is usually all done before 8 or 9 a.m., so it's nice to have it all out of the way first thing.
Then we typically go out to a class or an activity or shopping (LOL!), get home in the afternoon. They nap, I finish laundry and do computer stuff. At night, I cook 2-3 times a week, when my H gets home, we hang out with him a little. I put everyone to bed, then do more computer stuff, clean the kitchen (twice a week), sweep, write bills, make a To-Do List for the next day (LOLOL!), and clean up all the toys and shoes everywhere...and start the whole thing over again the next day
I do not polish silverware, garden or iron anything however! hahaha
... and you still find time to look fabulous. I hate you.
just kidding.

It goes fast, I swear! The trick, for me at least, is just to get it done and over with, hence the early start!
And I meant to add I do this all in sweatpants and rarely wear undergarments at home, LOL! Not exactly swishing around in pearls here. LMAO!
You're ruining my vision of you fluffing towels in your Manolos.
I now request a sweatpants OOTD and FOTD.
Lucy Elizabeth 10.27.12
LOL! If I owned Manolos, I may just consider fluffing towels while wearing them :P
I just may do my regular around the house OOTD for you, that would be funny!
V, you are too sweet. But you have a newborn, my youngest is 2. Two years is a long time to figure out a routine that works for you!!
Trust me, I wasn't cleaning, making beds or cooking when I first had my babies either. I remember actually wiping myself down with baby wipes (as a shower!!! LOL) when my son was first born and my daughter was 16 months. It was definitely rough. There was no way at that point I would have been able to do what I can do now.
The beauty of being a parent is that every day is different and as your child(ren) grow, you find new ways to as well.
I am sure your house is just fine and the important thing is that Alex and you are getting the bonding time in. I doubt a big pile of laundry or a few dirty dishes are going to matter much in the big scheme of things.
Now I love you even more.
