Hi all,
So our 1-yr anniversary is in a few days (Sun 6-27) and
I have NO idea what to get DH. Not only are we celebrating one year,
but we're also expecting - only 5 1/2 weeks to go! I have to work night
shifts Fri, Sat & Sun, so we can't really do any kind of a
B&B/overnight trip. We'll probably just end up going to dinner, and
maybe I'll suggest watching our wedding video (the "short" version)
before I have to go to work. ... Does anyone have any ideas for gifts or
other fun "quick" ways to celebrate? ... Appreciate all insights!
Thanks
and happy anniversary to other June couples out there!
Re: 1-year anniversary ideas
We are trying to save money right now for our trip and upcoming move so I recreated our wedding day dinner.
Along with the dinner I bought a bottle of the sparkling wine we drank that night and broke out our toasting flutes. We also were able to get an anniversary cake from our cake lady so that was nice. DH really liked it!
GL and Happy Anniversary to you!
We did dinner out the night before, fresh anniversary cake from our baker, watched our wedding video, and exchanged little gifts.
His gift to me:
I had to pick activities out of a bag and then chose the month in which we will do them. The activities including such things as "Wes cooks dinner", "Shopping trip", "Stay in movie night", and Wes's favorite -- "puppy shopping." I also got to choose from wildcard options and trade in any of the original twelve.
My gift to him was a leather-bound journal where we both write a love letter every year on our anniversary. Oh, and tickets for a paddleboat "cruise".

My 101
Mamie - I love Wes' idea - so cute.
I made DH a newlywed map so we can keep track of all the places we've been together. Similar to this
We went to St Louis for our anniversary - it was an easy driveable weekend trip. Went out to a couple dinners, went to a Cardinals game and the Budweiser brewery and just relaxed by the pool and walked around downtown. It was great.
For in town ideas, maybe see if there are any local festivals that weekend and go to a concert, go out to a nice brunch or lunch at a new restaurant.

Married
We never do romantic things, like, ever. On top of that DH has been really stressed at work, and I've been house-bound recovering from surgery. For this week I am doctor-approved to start cooking again, as long as I don't lift anything heavy.
So. I put on my most Donna Reed dress with a ruffly apron DH's mom gave me and my fake pearls. I met DH at the door when he got home with his favorite mixed drink (7&7). When he came in I had already prepped dinner. He drank his bev and then took out the dog (which I'm not allowed to do yet - he weighs 75lbs), with express instructions to be back in 20 minutes. When he got back dinner was ready and the table was set (with a table cloth and everything!). We had a nice time and he was completely surprised by my domestic prowess. What he doesn't know is that in addition to the 20 min. he was walking the dog, I spent exactly 5 minutes on that dinner
For dessert we had the last two pices of our anniversary cake (we picked it up two weeks early for his birthday). Totally worth it for the smile on his face (which has been sadly missing for a while).
(bacon-wrapped filet mignon, mashed potatoes, broccoli and Pilsbury Grands)
The actual gift I gave him: I framed the tickets from out first date (a hockey game) and the night he proposed (a movie). Of course we don't know where we're going to put it, since the condo is basically out of wall space.
His idea of the "paper" anniversary - we're going back to Hawaii! Apparently there are tickets in our future.
