Oh good god...

So Wonkette posted these two videos of a guy filming McCain/Palin supporters (in Ohio, I think) and asking them if they think Obama is a terrorist. When people answer that he's guilty by assocation, he asks them why John McCain stood on a stage with him at the debate. There is so much wrong with both the supporters and the filmer. I have provided descriptions for those of you who can't watch video right now.

Part 1.

The first guy actually says that Obama is a "one man terror cell."  One guy says he "could be" a terrorist.  One woman says he "has the blood line" to be a terrorist and says to "look at the name."  One woman actually says that Obama is a terrorist, that she heard of Sarah Palin three years ago, and that Palin has "10 times" more experience that Obama "ever will."  One woman claims that, although she had heard of Barack Obama long before Sarah Palin, Palin has done more "personal interviews" than Palin has.

Part 2.

This is where the interviewer gets annoying. One guy says he doesn't want to be taped and the interviewer says, "So you think he's a terrorist?" WTF? Dude didn't want to be filmed, and there's nothing wrong with that. He also asked a black man why, as an African American, he was voting for McCain. Grr - based on the logic of identity politics, I should be voting for McCain because his running mate is a woman. One woman thinks that Palin is a "normal American" but Obama is a politician. Huh? Oh my god, and the audience singing that terrible "Proud to Be an American" song. OMG, a little kid says, "You need gloves to touch him!" WTF?! Who lets their kid say that? One guy claims he has never heard of Barack Obama but heard of Sarah Palin when she was a pageant contestant in the 80s because he's "into fashion."

If you need me, I'll be hiding under my desk, hoping the stupid people don't find me.

Re: Oh good god...

  • I think if I click on either of those links, I will Officially Lose It.

    Reading your descriptions was enough...yikes.

  • I'm sorry, but both of those sound hilarious, I'll have to check them out at home.  It's Americana, folks, love it or hate it.  The only way to beat the ignorance is to have more kids than the Duggars.  Best get on that. Stick out tongue

Yeah I posted below.  Another girl posted on E08 and thinks she sees JulieF in there.

Ah, I missed it. But I really think it needs its own inflammatory, eye-catching thread title.

I have largely ditched E08 since I found y'all. Too many morons over there. I have a lot of hair, and I'd like to keep it that way.

  • OMG. Some of those comments are clearly racist, but that doesn't surprise me.

  • I know politics are dirty and that both sides have distorted the other's records and policies, but this is really disturbing to me.

This sort of rhetoric could tear our country apart, and it's really, really dangerous that it's being tolerated, much less encouraged.
