What the hell are they protesting, specifically?
I've been watching some of the live footage of these riots in Toronto, but what is the purpose? All I hear in terms of explanation is comments like "We don't want elected leaders to ignore our voices any longer" but ignore WHAT voice? I can't figure out what specifically they are protesting about the G20.

Many of the people they are protesting are not agreeing with all the money being spent on these summits. They feel that the money should be going towards programs and not into the summits.
Some of the people that are protesting are just anarchists and they have no rhyme or reason but to cause damage on the streets of Toronto.
That and everything. Anyone with an agenda or message to promote seems to have come out to try to get the attention of the world's leaders and media. PETA, free Tibet, labour activists, women's rights, whatever.

tritto. Just a couple weeks ago I watched something about the ridiculous amount being spent on security and agreed that it was overkill. I certainly was not expecting what I saw on the news this weekend.
I've been watching all weekend, and I'm going to say that I give a high five to our police and whoever was taken care of the city this weekend.
I hate the fact so many protesters are blaming police that all this happened are you for real? They burned 4 cop cars, with that they attacked a cop car with a police officer in the vehicle. As well they knocked a police officer off his horse. It makes me sick that some of these anarchists have to go that far. I know they are there to make trouble it still bothers me. As well some of the anarchists were damaging media vehicles which had ties to the police.
