I'm no World Cup bandwaggoner

Seriously?  This might be more interesting/entertaining if all these guys quite crying and just played.  They dive and fall and look like they're in so much pain and then just get up and run the length of the field.  AND some guy just got taken off on a stretcher and as soon as they set the stretcher down on the sidelines the guy got up.

Pfft.

Re: I'm no World Cup bandwaggoner

  • I haven't even attempted to watch it. Soccer bores me to death, and it always has. Even when my little brother played, I could not get myself into the game!

I'm a baseball girl. Always will be. No amount of media coverage is going to change that.
  • Same here....so boring to watch.  It annoys me how everyone's all in an uproar over soccer now.  Who watched it in the regular season?  Hardly anyone (or so it seemed)...now everyone's like, woohoo world cup!!!  gag.

they were falling down/etc on purpose to attempt to run the clock down so that they would win. you see that in all sports though, especially basketball. you have to be part athlete, part actor.

  • I know why they do it- I still think it takes away from the integrity of the game.  But then again, I believe that's the problem with a lot of professional sports.  Just seems especially stupid in a 90 minute game when they are just jogging around most of the time anyways.  At least in basketball it doesn't run down the clock and the refs aren't afraid to call fouls and/or technicals on dives.

  • To be completely honest, I had no idea that the US even had professional soccer teams until the World Cup started.  I don't see how everyone is so excited to sit down and watch 90 minutes of soccer when all they do is run around and hardly score any goals!
  • Well lets just all be thankful that its OVER for the USA!  I mean, I love my country and all but come on... soccer is unbearably boring!

  • Well... it?s must be cultural, for sure... I LOVE soccer, but i have these feelings (boring) with baseball!!! I trying to understand it (just trying, I didn?t meet my goal...) and also play (which was so fun but very very difficult!) but when I wach a play with my husband I sleep after 30 minutes... so I sleep about 3:30 hours!!
  • I'm not really a sports person.  I think soccer and most other sports are boring to watch.  However, I find professional rugby to be really exciting. I have my semester in Ireland to thank for that.

  • holy cow baseball is boring to watch!  It's so slow moving. I don't watch any sports. Soccer is pretty big in seattle though, our teams games have pretty good attendance.

  • I am so sick of the sound of vuvuzelas. HH has the TV on and tuned to ESPN year-round at all times whenever he is home (unless there's something on FSN that he wants to see). I've had to listen to that awful drone for far too long.
