Wedding Deposits
How long did you guys have to wait for your wedding deposits? We paid a security deposit to our reception hall, and a deposit to book our caterer (they are in the same building). The deposits were never applied to our final bill, so we should be getting that money back. We also paid for another keg and that was returned to their shelves which is suppose to be refunded to us.
When I paid the final balance (we paid the entire balance before the wedding by check) and at the end of the wedding reception they said I should have my refund by a week or so after the wedding.
We were married on May 22 and we are still waiting! I have called three times. E-mailed the contact once we returned from our honeymoon. I talked with someone the last two times. On Thursday when I called, they said it was mailed to us. All we've received is a questionnaire about their service.
Am I being unrealistic about turn around time? I am so ready to move on from wedding craziness and just want my $700-ish dollars!
This just sucks. I LOVED my wedding reception and everything was just so amazingly beautiful. I hate that this puts a cloud over it.

Was there a reason that they did not apply the deposits to your final balance due? Every deposit I paid was applied to the final balance so I haven't found myself in this situation fortunately. And I don't think that you are being unrealistic considering that you shouldn't even be waiting for money that is yours!
I guess you'll have to just keep making a stink about it. Have you considered going up there in person? Or is that out of the question?
It was not applied to our balances and I am not sure why I didn't catch it when I was paying for it... I am actually going to go Monday afternoon and have a little "chat" with the venue. I just want to make sure I wasn't being unreasonable expecting my money now.
Funny though that they had no problem taking my money and expecting it by the deadlines but they can't extend the same courtesy.
All of our deposits were applied to the final balance, so we're not in the same situation, but I agree that you should definitely have that money back by now! You're so right when you say they expect your money by a certain time, so how come they can't do the same for you?
