opinions needed - gifts for 6 & 8 year old boys!

my best friend is having a baby girl soon, and she has two step-sons, so i wanted to get "big brother" shirts for them and a little something else (since the baby is getting SO much attention!).

they are 6 and 8 (1st and 3rd grade in september) SO, i have two questions:

1) what's a good, small ($10-15) gift for boys those ages?

2) which t-shirt do you like best? (it would be the "big brother" version of any of these!)

http://www.etsy.com/listing/45749318/race-car-big-brother-personalized-tshirt (would not get this personalized)

http://www.etsy.com/listing/49896637/big-brother-shirt (this could only be for the 6 year old, since the 8 year old has been a big brother since 2004!)

Thanks!!

Re: opinions needed - gifts for 6 & 8 year old boys!

  • Hi! ?I'm not entirely sure what 6 and 8 year old boys are into these days. ?But Toy Story is really big right now again. ?Maybe an inexpensive lego set? ?A fun game they might be able to play together? ?

I think any of the shirts are cute. ?I like the second to last one but I think it would be cute with the name. ?Is it more money to have the name put on it? ?I also like the Big Brothers Rock one. ?

    GL!?

  • All the kids I know/am related to/babysit for from age 5-10 are all into these shaped rubber band bracelets.  And this is boys AND girls.  Also, you could give them a certificate to do something with you...movies, skating, waterpark.
My baby girl is a married woman...and now my baby girl HAS a baby girl. Time unfolds in such an amazing way. I've been blessed!

I second the rubber band shape bracelets! My nephew in PA has been into them for a while now. It's all the rage, as the old folks say.

As for the shirts, I think the Rock and Roll ones work best for your specific situation and they're way cute!

  • Yes, yes, yes to the silly bands. For sure. They have them at 7-11. My nephews are WAY into them. My other suggestion would be a book...not sure if they are readers or not...and we all know I'm partial.

  • Thanks everyone!! I got the "Big Brothers Rock" tees and found some Toy Story 3 silly bandz! Best of all worlds  Big Smile
