Anyone have a netbook?

We are thinking about getting a netbook. I have mixed feelings about it. I think it would be nice for when we travel to visit family, etc because I HATE traveling with my laptop (it's just freaking heavy). However, I don't know when we would use it otherwise. If/when I travel for work I'll have my work laptop. But, I can see where it would be nice to have for our trip to Germany in September. The doggie daycare where we'll be boarding our puppies has a webcam so we can check on them anytime during the day [&] I would love to be able to see them from Germany, LOL!

So anyone have a netbook? Any reviews??

Re: Anyone have a netbook?

  • Yes, and I love it! I have the Acer Aspire One. I use mine for everything. I rarely use my desktop anymore. It doesn't have an optical drive but it's got USB ports if you're traveling and want to upload photos or video. It's a good little computer for using the internet and I wrote my entire thesis on it too. It's not great for graphics related things - like I wouldn't design a powerpoint on it, but I don't find it any worse than a regular laptop other than the fact that because the screen is smaller, I have to scroll down more often!!
  • yes i'm on my hubby's right now! we have a dell inspiron mini 10. my coworker brought hers to the conference, she has a toshiba. we really like it for traveling purposes - we dont do anything on it besides that really..... it's not a good "desktop/laptop" substitute to use for long amounts of time but it is EXCELLENT for travelling. the webcam quality is better than our $20 webcam from walmart so that's good :)

we bought a pack with it that has a case + mini mouse + 3 USB port connector thingie on sale for like $20 and that was one of the best decisions because there's only 1 USB port on it and having a mouse makes the tiny computer easier to use.

  • I have a Dell netbook also and I love it.  It's pretty much the only computer I use.
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • Yes we have one. I just got it to use when Emmy was born. My laptop is super heavy and when she was sleeping on me, I couldnt use it. So we go the netbook and will use it for traveling as well.

I agree, its not an every day computer but it works well for surfing the net and checking email. I got a Gateway.
