Skechers shape ups

Does anyone have them? Are they worth the money? Does anyone have another brand that is supposed to do the same thing and costs less? I should probably get some new exercise shoes as mine have to be at least 10 years old (i never wear them except for exercise, i loathe to tie my shoes lol). Thanks for any advice or info!

Re: Skechers shape ups

  • A girl at work bought a pair from Kohls.  They are an off brand.  She says they really work.
  • I see alot of people around the hospital in them. I've heard a couple say they're much better for when they're on their feet all day. I personally don't have them, I think they look silly lol.

  • Really, save your money. If you do your biking, you'll notice a toning difference in a couple weeks. Those really aren't meant for your work out shoes. Just for people who aren't going to work out to justify themselves. I don't have them or know people who do, I've just read a few articles (and lurked on the Health and Fitness board) to have a not so great opinion about them. So just keep enjoying the outdoors while you bike, and invest in real work out shoes. Sorry, those shoes always rubbed me the wrong way for some reason, lol
  • We had nurses come to my classroom to speak to the kids and I noticed they were both wearing them.

I work out and am healthy, but I wouldn't be opposed to wearing those during the day to sneak in a small workout while I'm at work.  I'm on my feet a lot all day too so why not?  I don't know, but I wouldn't wear them to work out in the gym or anything.  They don't look like those type of shoes.  I'd wear them for everyday walking.

Sorry my opinion isn't based on 1st hand experience with them but I've been interested too so I thought I would sneak in my thoughts.

  • They are definitely not work out shoes, you should invest in actual tennis shoes that are meant for working out to wear during your workouts. Those (and the off brands) are meant for getting a "workout" while you walk but not for actual working out. Pretty sure they'd do more harm than good if you went for a run in them.

I, personally, wouldn't waste my money on them. SIL got them for Christmas and returned them because she didn't like them. She said she felt like she was wearing those shoes that kids used to wear if they had something wrong with their feet? ya know, like those huge clunky ones? I can't remember what they are called. But she also said they were weird to walk in. I tried them on out of curiosity and I did not like them. I felt like I was going to fall flat on my face.

  • Honestly, they look like 70s platform sneakers...astronaut-ish if you ask me. They are supposed to improve your posture, and help knee joint pain because there is more support on the shoe. But I'm all about fitness and exercise - so I don't think this "gimmick" really works. It's really just an overpriced shoe...they cost over $100 or so. I have nice running shoes that cost less and fit my foot like a glove.

My vertically challenged aunt tried them on, and she gained an extra 5 inches. Even if she wore them with long jeans, they still look funny.
