How was your weekend?

I'm soooo happy it's a short work week for me.  My company gave us an extra day off for the long weekend so I get this Friday as well as Monday off--yipee!

On Friday I went to my first PT appointment for my back.  It's never a good thing when the therapist looks at you and asks, "Do you have scoliosis?"

Friday night we took my little cousins to see Karate Kid, which was cute.  On Saturday we went to a high school graduation party for another cousin.  Yesterday I spent most of the day cleaning the house and at night had a big family dinner with some OOT relatives who came to visit my grandpa.  Basically, it was a big family-time weekend.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

Re: How was your weekend?

  • Aside from the PT part of things, it sounds like it was a really nice weekend!

We had a pretty low-key weekend. On Saturday night, though, I recreated our Jamaican honeymoon for H.  We went on our honeymoon a year ago, and since we can't afford to go anywhere right now I thought it might be fun to have a little staycation. Anyway, when he got home from work, I had prepared a Caribbean-style meal, had candles lit, our Jamaican beach towels spread out on the floor with some rocks and shells around them, and the sound of ocean waves (thank you Droid White Noise app!)... plus a little Bob Marley playing. We also had some Red Stripe and rum-based adult beverages. It was a fun evening. :)

  • Ugh. How long does your PT think until you are 100% again?

My back pain started this past week so I have tried to be as active as possible- walking the dogs more, playing in the yard with them, I raked 5 bags of leaves yesterday. We had a friend over for dinner last night. Saturday, Dh and I went downtown for a bit, grabbed lunch, and went to some cream of the crop uppity baby store that we will NOT be returning to. We thought they may have strollers we wanted to test out but no one would even acknowledge us. I guess we aren't rich enough looking. I mean, granted, my interests are nowhere near the $700 strollers the other patrons were looking at, but still. There is no reason to be so snotty!

We watched a hilarious George Clooney movie during a thunderstorm yesterday- Up In The Air, maybe?

I have my first foster return happening today. Luckily, I found a local foster home, but that put a big amount of stress on us this weekend, preparing for a 3rd dog.

  • I had a great weekend, really low key! Friday night, me and some girlfriends hung out on Moody street for dinner and people watching. Saturday, we helped a friend move then went to the movies. We saw Knight and Day. Cute movie, I was surprised I liked it because I can't stand Cameron Diaz. Yesterday, I got my hair cut and drastically chopped 8 inches off!

No one really knows.  The NP told me to take 800mg ibuprofen 3x/day and do whatever exercises the PT recommended for at least two weeks and then see how it goes. Sorry you're having back pain too.

Glad you found another place for the foster to stay--three big dogs sounds like a handful!

PIP!  Did you donate the hair?

  • I didn't donate it, but I should have. Do you have to organize that in advance? Not really sure how the program works.

Nope, don't really need to organize in advance.  Some salons will actually give you a discounted or free haircut if you're donating though.  Pantene Beautiful Lengths and Locks of Love are the two organizations I know about.  More info in the links; Pantene will accept 8" I believe but you need 10" for LoL.

  • Sounds like good weekends all around for the most part!

Friday night I went to see Toy Story 3 with some friends. It was pretty cute. I've been in CT for work, so Sat DH drove down to meet me at my parents. We went berry picking and swimming then to a party at his parents. Got to spend time with little SIL, made a blueberry pie, lots of summer time things. Sunday took the pup for a long walk at a nature preserve, had lunch with my dad, more swimming, and grilled out.

  • My weekend was busy! Friday morning I ran my long run (10 miles) and then worked the evening shift. Saturday morning DH and I went to his parents house for the Triple Pozzy Party! We celebrated DH's birthday, our BIL's birthday and Father's Day. I made a walnut and feta cheese pasta salad and it was dee-licous! Worked again that night. After my shift I went over to the Time's Irish Pub for a pint to celebrate my friends birthday. Didn't drink a whole lot since I had to be back at work at 7AM the next morning.

Worked Sunday morning and then DH came to pick me up and we went to the Phantom Gourmet BBQ Beach Party. We got ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket and rained on! It poured! But it was a lot of fun. Then we relaxed that night and it was great.

    Phew. Stick out tongue

  • My weekend was way too short. I planned too much for too little time. Friday night we went out bowling with my sister and some of her friends to celebrate her bday. Saturday I had my family over to also celebrate my sister's bday. This meant a morning of food shopping and frantic cleaning, then entertaining and cooking all day. Saturday night we went out for a friend's bday and didn't go to bed until 3am! This is so unlike me, but maybe not anymore since this is the second time this month DH and I have been out late on a Saturday. It was fun, but then I slept in on Sunday and half the day was gone before it even started. Sigh. I caught up with laundry and some cleaning, and now it's Monday again. I had a lot of fun, I just wish I had one more day to recover!
  • I just sat around all weekend.  We had a trip to the ER Saturday night, but it looks like there's no cause for real alarm.  So on Sunday I mostly laid around the apartment, which is what I did today after the follow up Dr appt.  Tomorrow, unfortunately, I have stuff to do, so no more slacking off and lounging around.

  • wow, it's been so long since I posted here! Work has picked up a lot, but this week I'm between vacations, so it's slow again.

This weekend DH and I spent Friday night at the beach (in CT) with my family, for the last night of their week there. Saturday mom and I did a little birthday shopping for various people, went out to lunch, and then DH and I went to BFF's housewarming party, and saw 2 friends we haven't seen since our wedding in September. Sunday was all errands with my parents (some in prep for our big 2 week trip, DH and I are going to DC for a meeting I have, my parents are leaving 2 days before to go to SD, and then after a week, DH and I are meeting them out there and we're going to a family reunion, Yellowstone, and then another family reunion).

This week is all about to-do lists, to-pack lists, more errands, cleaning the house (we hate coming home to a messy house!) and packing. I hope I don't lose my mind!

yeah, as long as you still have the hair, you can package it up and send it whenever! I think you just need to tie the hair in a bundle- I tied mine in 2 ponytails, an elastic above the cut, and an elastic in the middle of what would be cut off, and had the stylist cut, so the hair stayed together in the bundles.
