maybe I don't want to have twins
I've always thought that if I do ever have kids, that I want to have twins. Really, for selfish reasons - so I can 'get it over with' at once. lol. I also think twins are just fun and like you have a built-in bff. See? I am totally not ready for kids. haha.
Anywho... a girl I went to high school with is PG with twins and man... reading her updates on Facebook & seeing pictures of her right now... maybe I don't want twins anymore. She's only 26 weeks and looks like she's 40 weeks. She looks ready. And Summer is upon us... I hope she has access to a pool.
Re: maybe I don't want to have twins
Way back when... when I was preggo with my first child, I was hoping and praying I'd have twins for the same exact reasons you expressed Sarah! I wanted to "get it done and over with" at one time!
Boy am I glad I only had one! Although at 10 lbs. 5 oz., it felt like two the entire time!!

My SIL wanted twins so bad after she found out she was pregnant for the same reasons you listed. At there first appt. when they said there was just one she asked "are you sure?", lol. I read a blog of a former DW bride who had twins and I don't think I want them! There are so many risks for mom and babies, not to mention you have to deal with two crying babies, not just one.
I think the only way I'd end up with twins is if I was on fertility drugs. Twins don't run in either of our families.

Ha! I've always wanted twins since I was a kid, but lately I've been rethinking that for the reasons you ladies already mentioned.
Although, twins do run in my family so there is a chance it could happen, but I doubt it. My aunt had twins and she said it was fine because she only had to do it all one time around. I don't remember what she ended up doing for childcare, but they didn't end up on the streets so I guess they managed.

Yeah I definitely know that can & does happen. I just live in fantasy land where it doesn't, lol. That really sucks about your twin, btw! She's going to regret not being there.
I am one of those crazy people that wants twins! LOL.
There's a good chance that I might have them too b/c my grandfather was an identical twin, on DH's side his mother had twins & his brother just had identical twins!! YIKES! I'd rather tell myself that I'm having them rather than be surprised!
I don't mind the pregnancy thing b/c either way, I think it's going to get uncomfortable at some point. SIL had a lot of issues with her pregnancy b/c she was overweight & almost 33yrs old, but nothing so outrageous that I wouldn't want twins. The only thing that scares the crap out of me is the whole C section thing. I don't like the fact that they strap your arms down!!! I think I might panic!

I may have been living in a hole... I never knew they did that?!
Double post....Whoops.
My arms were not strapped down. The part that freaked me out was the anesthesiologist saying, "you might feel a little nauseous when they take your ute out and out it on the table and then again when they put it back in. So if you do, let me know. I can give you something for that."
I didn't want twins. And Timm really didn't want twins. He asked the ultrasound tech to check and make sure there was only one in there. Twice. It was hiliarious.
They take the ute OUT of you???! I thought only the baby came out, lol! Show's how much I have to learn.
Also, is anyone else's dream of having twins influenced by the Sweet Valley High books? I wanted to be Jessica or Elizabeth Wakefield so bad!
Ugh! I thought the same thing and I like to think I am pretty educated in "lady things!"
Danielle - my sisters are definitely not best friends either, but they are still very close. As we have gotten older, I think that I am closer to one of them than the twins are to each other. My one sister is also a little bitter about being a twin sometimes too I think (which also gets tangled in the fact their b'day is a week before Xmas). She made a comment once that she didn't need any brothers or sisters - um, well, thanks, but her twin was even more offended. My Mom was always very good about making sure they had their own identities, presents, celebrations, but I think it was what other people did (in lumping them together as one person) that my sister sometimes has issues with.
Haha! I've never thought about it like that, but I did l-o-v-e those books when I was younger!
my SIL had her arms strapped down, yes. And a friend of ours who also had twins had her arms strapped down as well.
I'm not a fan of being held down. I don't like the trapped feeling. I don't like small spaces either-like elevators, caves, & things. Again I think it has to do with the trapped feeling.

I've been in on several c-sections and have never seen this. Usually the incision is just large enough to pull the baby out...It doesn't make any sense why they would take out your uterus and put it back in.

I LOVED those books! It made me wish I had a twin and lived in Cali, lol!
