Not another one!!
There are 8 people in my division at work - only 4 of us work here at the main headquarters. My boss is a vegetarian, my coworker here is mostly one, and now my other coworker here just told me that he's trying to quit meat, for health reasons. Yet he also just told me that he's getting addicted to sweets and is excited for cupcakes tomorrow. Yeah, I'm sure trading meat for cupcakes and cookies is healthy!!
I like my coworkers, but there is a lot I don't have in common with them including my eating habits

I could never be a vegetarian because I love bacon too much. I seriously think I could give up almost all other meats, but I can't pass up bacon. Luckily I don't eat it very often or cook it at home.
I work with all men, for a construction company. There is a constant flow of vendors in & out of the office and they always bring stuff in with them. Our office is always full of donuts, bagels, pizza, cookies.... I really wish someone would bring a fruit basket in some time. Hahhaa. I know that wouldn't make the guys too happy though!

When I was in high school I knew a lot of "vegetarians" that ate potato chips & candy all day. I even knew a couple who ate fish. Try debating that one.
It wasn't until more recently that I've become friends with people who are - what I feel to be - true vegetarians.
I went veggie for several years in high school and college. I didn't have a diet of potato chips...of course I'm a huge veggie/fruit fan. I actually wanted to try and go back for a week...just 'cuz. A lot of vegetarians will eat fish because fish don't have the neurological systems to feel pain...same goes with some of them eating bugs for protein (gag gag GAG). There are a whole list of degrees on being a vegetarian. It's not as black and white as it seems.
I stopped being veggie when DH and I moved in together...was too much of a pain in the ass to make two meals. I only became one for the fact that I honestly didn't like a lot of meat. My mom even said I'd hide meat under my plate as a kid and eat all the veggies. Go figure.
Anyway, don't let their eating habits bother you. I know it's hard because you feel more self conscious about it.
I am just not used to being surrounded by so many people who don't eat meat - I'm from the midwest where that's practically a sin :-)
Ha ha.. in Philadelphia, in the circle I ran there were many artists. For some reason, it seems like many of the artists I meet are vegetarians. After I saw the "meatrix" (don't check it out unless you have a strong stomach), I almost went vegetarian myself. I do agree with many of the ideas behind it, I just personally LOVE me some chicken. I don't know if I could go full vegetarian..
To each his own, though!
