Re: HI Nesties Book Club Check-In
After not being able to sleep very much last week (jet lag and being sick) I was able to get past Chapter 12 and am now well into the second week's reading. I'm liking the twists and turns but this book is definitely a sad one.
I am right at 100 pages. It is a slow read for me, maybe because it is depressing

whew - I went from not knowing we started to already finished!! We had a long car ride sightseeing over the weekend. But I will just talk about the first 1/4...
I thought the book was a little slow and I never like forced suspense when it distracts from the story (leave you purposely hanging at the end of a chapter. BUT, beyond that, I did enjoy the story telling. I agree that it is depressing and the characters just seem so helpless - it really makes me worried about how they can possibly have an uplifting story. I know not all stories have to be happy, but I just WANT good things to happen for them but I KNOW they will never be "back to normal" and that is sad.
