in Grand Rapids Nesties
on the federal goverment not passing the jobless bill again. Wood TV just posted on Facebook that 400,000 people will lose their benefits by July 3rd. Being one of the many unemployed I would really like another extension, mine ends late next month.

    I personally think that they need to keep doing the extensions. A lot of the people who have lost their jobs are out there pounding the ground to get a job, but cannot get one. For every one job that posts, there are hundreds of people applying for it, even if it's at Walmart. Trust me, I can't stand my job and am lookng for another in my degree field, but I am lucky enough to have a job.

    We're holding our breath that they'll pass something when they get back from this week's break.

    I can't say how many resumes I've sent out, only to get a few nibbles and one half hearted-bite.

    I'm in the same boat and I didn't even get unemployment :o(

    It really is a shame that it's going to be cut off, I know too many people who are using it and don't have to though.  SIL lives at home with her grandma.  She has absolutely NOTHING to pay for, and she's young and could easily get a job in retail to pay for her to drive out to the beach everyday (seriously).  She's just one of the examples of how I think there are people out there who abusing it.  I wish there was a way to really monitor the way people spend the money.  Another guy my husband knows uses it to buy beer, go on vacations, and play golf.  It's incredibly unfair.

    I really hope they pass something or else my parents will be in BIG trouble! Unfortunately no one wants to hire "older" people. They've been looking ever since both of them were laid off. They get an interview here and there but that's it. :o(
