I think my diet is starting to get to me

I've been counting calories & exercising for the last 9wks & I think it's starting to affect my brain. Last night I kept dreaming about Maggiano's chocolate cake & red velvet cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. I think I'm going to fall off the wagon soon Embarrassed

Re: I think my diet is starting to get to me

  • Try not to think of it as a diet and as a lifestyle change.  I hate the word diet and I think just using that messes with my head because then I think I can never eat normally.  My problem is I eat when I'm stressed or bored and I've been stressed a lot recently.  I just tell myself it's okay and just a bump in the road.  I try not to beat myself up over it because it doesn't seem to help me any.

  • I agree with Elizabeth! I always find when I restrict myself from having something I'm really craving then I start dreaming about it and HAVE to have it then. And instead of a bite satisfying me when the craving started then I have to have the whole thing!

    So have some cake :)

  • I think you should have some cake. Just don't eat a whole cake by yourself.

  • I agree with Elizabeth.  I hate the word diet.  Make it a lifestyle change.  Have you read "Body for Life" by Bill Phillips? It is all about changing your lifestyle to include healthy eating, exercising (both cardio and weights).  And you can indulge a little too.  Sometimes your body needs that.

I may check that book out myself!

  • I think you should allow yourself a bite of cake.  Get a cupcake, they are small and should satisfy the craving.
