More insurance fun

I've had to deal with 5 insurance companies in the last two months (my health, dental, and vision, and his health and dental), and I believe that only one of the four (his dental) has not yet screwed up. Actually, I'm being issued a new card, so there's still time for them to drop the ball!

I got home last night to a letter from my former dental insurance that informed me the dentist would be billing me for my most recent cleaning and exam. ????? I've gone in for exactly the same thing at least a dozen times on this insurance plan and never had to pay a cent other than my premium. After some calls, it turns out that they made a mistake and are going to fix it.

I also found out yesterday that I have not had health insurance for the last month because somebody didn't put me in the system, despite the fact that Matt and his company's HR did everything right.

This plus arguing with a credit card company over some stupid fee... Ahhh, newlywed bliss. :) I can't wait until everything is truly consolidated and I at least have only one set of other people's mistakes to correct. This is getting utterly ridiculous.

Re: More insurance fun

  • I went to both of my banks last week to get my name changed.  Yesterday, in the mail I get my package of new checks and my new debit card... of course, it's the wrong name.  They left my middle name the same, even though I handed the girl at the bank my new driver's license which has the correct name.  She handed me a form back that still had the "L" as my middle name and I told her it was incorrect so she redid it.  Well, apparently she still did it incorrectly because it was still wrong on the checks/card.  So I got to spend about 30 minutes on the phone with the bank this morning trying to get it straightened out.  FUN!!

  • I've totally run out of steam in the name changing department. I did my DL and SS Card, insurance, anything I could do online or by fax. Anything else... can wait lol. I've still got 11 more things to change my name on, and that's just what I've remembered to put on my list. I'm sure there's something else!

Stu, that's your own fault for being so COMPLICATED and changing your middle name! How dare you make it harder for those poor people to do their jobs! :) hehe

  • Dude, I HANDED HER MY NEW LICENSE!!!  It had the name on it!  And then after I told her it was wrong, she was like, "well, isn't that what was on your license??"  Um, no.... I think I know what my freakin driver's license says!!  What are the 11 things you still have to change?  I feel like I'm still forgetting something.

  • Ok, cool... I'm just missing the passport, utilities (water, power, and garbage is all on one bill), health insurance, and I THINK that's it.

  • I think that all I have left is passport and our lease. I sure hope so. I've had to make every change multiple times because people keep messing stuff up. Everyone gets my middle initial wrong, too, which annoys me to no end because it's ON MY DRIVER'S LICENSE and/or on whatever form I am sending them. I don't ever erase anything from my marker board until I have confirmation that it was handled correctly on THEIR end... Just because I've done my part doesn't mean that it's checked off the list. Sigh.

  • I think I'm nearly done! I worked on it some more today. I went to SSA, DMV, went to bank changed my name on both accounts + ordered checks + got new debit cards. I called Ingdirect, 3 credit cards, verizon, cable, dish, power & gas, re registered to vote, and took my SS card to HR.

I'm just waiting for mortgage company to send me a form so I can fax my marriage license to them. and for new DL to come so I can take it to the water company, and I have 1 more bank to go to.

Oh I have to change my car payment too. But do I need to mess with the title since I'm still paying on the car?

  • Aw crap. I forgot about voting registration and car title/registration. I was hoping the DMV would change it all in one fell swoop, but that doesn't seem like it's going to happen.

    It never ends.

  • As I was reading through this and panicking about how much I still have to change, my doorbell rang and it was the mailman delivering my new passport!!  I can't NOT believe how quickly I got it!  I was told that I shouldn't expect it until July 13th, yet here it is.  So funny, if it was just one day earlier I wouldn't even be living here yet :)
