is there a doctor in the house?? :)

Obviously, you can't give medical advice online... but if you know anything about this - or have heard of anything I'm curious to know if this is something I should see a doctor about.

Over the last 2 weeks when I lay down at night my right thigh gets a burning sensation like it is freakin' on fiiiiire.  It lasts for a while - and honestly I'm not sure when it goes away - or even if it does before I just pass out at night.

I was thinking maybe a pinched nerve - but my dad mentioned periphreal arterial disease http://www.merck.com/mmhe/sec03/ch034/ch034b.html and it is making me worry.  I'm (obviously) under 70, a female, and not inactive... but neither is my dad and apparently he has it too and it can cause a lot of leg twitches as night (which i have).  grrrrrreat.

I noticed it happening tonight when I was sitting on the couch and leaning over on the coffee table to write something.  This is the first time I've noticed it when I wasn't on my back.

Anyone experienced anything like this???

  • No idea about the above, but I had that same sensation right before I got a stretch mark. Probably not what you wanted to hear Wink

ohhh. grrrrreat.  something to think about though.  I guess I'll make a doctor appt just in case...

  • I'm no doctor, but I'd really doubt it was peripheral arterial disease...I thought that had something to do with hardening of the arteries from cholesterol as you get older? You're too young.

Is the pain on the front or the back of your thigh? If it's the back, I wonder if it could be sciatica or something from, like you said, a pinched nerve. I've been getting some burning like that recently, depending on how I sit in my work chair.

  • I know I'm a bit late, but I had a sensation like that on my right thigh at times. It would start with a pain on my right side, and then move down my thigh when I was sitting or walking. Turns out I had a nodule from endometriosis on my right ovary that was on a nerve. I just had it laproscopically removed in April. Hope you find some relief soon.
  • thanks guys.  I went to the dr. today and we're going to try muscle relaxers for the next 10 days, and if it's still happening we'll more forward to nerve testing... Indifferent
