Have you ever done an online class before?
Re: **Elizabeth**
Depending on what type of class it is you may want to do it on campus. I did a math class online once and would have rather done it in class because it was an advanced math class and very difficult to teach yourself (unfortunately it was only offered online!). I've also taken things like music appreciation, english, psychology and study skills. It's mainly about time management. Most of them have deadlines throughout the semester which is good. Some it's all just due by the last day of class and then I tend to procrastinate too much. This fall I'm doing most of my classes online just for ease of being able to work more. My psychology class has to be on campus and my anatomy class I could do on campus but I'm electing for online since science comes natural to me. If it doesn't work out well online I will take the second semester on campus. I hope that helps!
::butting in:: I took a few on-line classes to satisfy the 150 hour requirement for the CPA exam. I liked taking them because it allowed flexibility with my work schedule.
I agree with Elizabeth, something like Math was hard to take on-line but English/History and stuff like that (which is basically all reading) was easy to take on-line. Besides you don't have to sit through boring lectures. The one thing I did notice is that if you overly participate in on-line discussion boards, the teachers gave better grades.
Yes, that def. does help. Thanks!
I'm more of a visual/hands on person so being on campus just might work better for me in the long run.
Once you get used to being back in school and everything I'm sure you will adjust. I always remembered hearing from other students if they recommended taking a certain class online or with a certain teacher so definitly keep your ears open to what fellow students say because it helped me a lot!
Well let me tell you I have to take a Pysch class, any Humanities class, some Medical Term class, Speech class, and something else that I can't remember. Which one of those would you think would be best for an online course?
That's a good idea. The thing is that I won't be at the actual school. They have off campus facilities (one that is about 5 min. from me) that I will be going to for the first sememster. I'm sure I can still be nosy and listen to the people there.
Speech is obviously something you will need to take in class. I would recommend not taking it this semester. I took it my first semester and was so freaked about being in school that I acted like a scared little thing in the class. If i waited until I was more comfortable with things, I'm sure it would have gone more smoothly. Then again, I still get uncomfortable speaking in front of people.
I think Psych is something you could possibly do on-line. From what I remember in Psych, it was a lot of reading and lectures by the professor. It's not like there is math or things that need further clarification from the teach, it's often pretty straight forwards.
Humanities, it depends what it is. Some classes have a lot of art related topics and that may be more fun in a group setting.
I agree with Mel. I would do psych online if I could. Humanities could probably be online. I'm doing my public speaking online. We meet 4 times during the semester and do our speeches I'm sure. I may push it back to second semester but if not I will let you know how it goes.
