Kasa and Tigers

The world wants to know.

Kasa - Have you picked a vacation destination yet?? If so, we can help you plan...

Tigers - Did you get matched up with a venue for ArtPrize yet?? I did, so I'm getting excited and was hoping you were in the same boat. Smile

    Embarrassed Um.... no.  Embarrassed

There is a chance that my husband and I may divorce over this issue (selecting a destination to celebrate our 5th anniversary... irony).  No, I'm kidding.  We're not arguing about it, but I think we're equally driving each other crazy.

Cabo San Lucas has entered the running.  Has anyone been there?

At this point, it is narrowed down to either Arizona or Cabo.  But lord knows that could change.  About an hour ago, my husband sent me an email with links to the Florida Keys.  I asked why he's trying to drive me insane.  Stick out tongue

Seriously, the whole thing is pretty comical.  We've been working on this for nearly six months.  It's gone a little something like this:

-- I want some place awesome with lots to do.  DH wants a beach.  We debate between Greece, Hawaii, and California.

-- DH decides he wants something more relaxing and low-key.  We remove Greece from consideration and add Aruba and Arizona.

-- I decide Aruba sounds boring (sorry, D&M) and remove that from the list.

-- We both decide we don't feel like flying all the way to Hawaii and remove that from the list.  We're down to California vs. Arizona.

-- DH decides he's ready to book Arizona.  Arizona then passes the immigration law and I get weirded out for awhile.

-- I (with the help of you guys) decide I'm ready to book Arizona.  DH says he wants a resort on the beach.  We begin considering Mexico.

And that's where we remain today.  We both have some attractions and some reservations for both Cabo and AZ.

Trust me, I know the feeling!  Today, I'm laughing about it though.  Yesterday, I was more pissy.

    It's ridiculous!

We've been joking that we need to go on vacation to relax and get away from this stressful vacation planning.

  • Well, I assume the Keys were an easy "no" since it is still technically hurricane season there and it is FL.

Have you thought about a cruise?  You could do Mayan Riveria (which would probably include Cabo) or the Mediterranean (which would include Greece).  Either of these destinations would get you out the hurricane/rainy zone and would include destinations that were on your original wish list (you could spend a couple of days in Cali before leaving on the Mayan Riveria or Athens or Rome for the Mediterranean).

  • Suze, it just occurred to me that you've probably planned and booked half a dozen trips since we've been contemplating this one.  Ha!

Yes, the Keys is not an option due to hurricane season.  Also, I have a thing against Florida.

Honestly, I don't think we need anymore options to consider at this point!  We just need to freaking book something and move on with our lives.

I think we have at least partially booked three or more trips since you've been working on this one.  Stick out tongue

I keep thinking that you haven't booked because you haven't found the right one yet, so that is why I keep throwing more options at you in hopes that one will magically be "it."  I feel like our trips just sort of come to us and it feels right.

We have been to Cabo, and I was expecting to be amazing since I had heard so many great things.  I was not impressed.   The beach is rocky, and the downtown market area (that I saw) was very touristy.  Our resort was nice, but we (by we I mean my boss) paid quite a bit more to go to Cabo, and I was so much more impressed with Puerto Vallarta when we went this year.  I think if we would have done some of the excursions I might have been more impressed, but we didn't because I was pg when we went.

    I vote for AZ

Between our high standards for this trip and our extremely differing views on what kind of vacation we want, I don't think there's any place on earth that will be "it".  Maybe I'll check into Mars...

I do appreciate your suggestions though!

You are probably right.  Think of all of the special things you could do to celebrate your anniversary no matter where you go, like renting a nicer car than you normally might, or getting a special souvenir, or having a really indulgent dinner or spa treatment, whatever matters to you and your husband.  The destination isn't the *only* thing that matters.
