*butting in*

Hi ladies,

I usually frequent the August 2009 board, but I need some New York specific information. We're going to the Bronx Zoo and a Yankees game the first week of August. I was hoping you could give me advice for a hotel that would be close enough we could get there, but not really in the Bronx, as I've heard it's not that great. (no offense to those that live there.) I'm in MA, so we'll be driving up on Friday. I don't think we'll be doing much as far as in the city, but a way to get in if we choose to would be great.

I guess to sum up, some place close by that I can easily hit public transportation would be good. Some people have recommended staying by La Guardia aiport, but I'm not sure how close everything is to each other. Thanks!

  • Astoria, Queens is a right next to the Triboro (now called RFK) bridge. That bridge goes to the Bronx and the best route to the stadium. Farther into Queens after Astoria is the LGA airport area.

Astoria has the N or W subway. LGA has no subway. Or you may want to stay along Queens Blvd. in Sunnyside or Woodside. There is the 7 subway.
