This is a C & P from the email I sent our association.
Today an individual knocked our door. I answered and he claimed to be from the company who supplies gas to PSE&G. He advised that due to
deregulation the supplier was offering a credit of one month but we
would need to provide him with a copy of our latest statement. I
informed him I was not comfortable providing this information to him
and he should have someone at his company mail us information
regarding the credit. He declined but advised me that I could "look
them up on the internet". I told him I would do just that and closed
the door. I noticed there was another man knocking on doors across
the street as well.
My husband called the Pine Hill Police who promptly sent out a marked car and the officer spoke to the man who knocked on our door and both men promptly left the area. The police have not yet followed up with us.
The man at my door was a black man in his mid to late twenties. He
was wearing a maroon golf shirt, bright red hat and khaki cargo
shorts. He had on a lanyard with some type of tag attached but no
formal ID or name. The other man was a black man same age range in a
white T-shirt and khaki cargo shorts and also wearing a lanyard.
I'm sure this won't deter them from trying this scheme out on another neighborhood.
Re: PSA: Possible Phising Scam
I didn't think people had the balls to do things like that in person anymore-I thought it was only done via the internet but people are tricky!
Thanks for the heads up!
I thought the same thing and I'm hoping they were just stupid and not trying to see who was home during the day and who wasn't.
