BU: Strawberry Jam

I updated my blog with a boring post on jam making for you domestic divas =)

Re: BU: Strawberry Jam

  • What's the difference between a homemade jam and jelly? Is it the amount of pectin that you use?  My mom always makes homemade jam, but it reminds me of the consistency of jelly at the store.
  • There may be other differences but the big one is that jam is made using whole fruit (skins, seeds, pulp) and jelly is made using juice from the fruit. I'm not exactly sure about the pectin, though I believe you use more of it in jelly. Jelly is usually sweeter than jam as well.

  • Interesting. Thanks for the info!
