I've been quite regular about strength training the past few years - especially this spring. I got really busy in May with finishing grad school and taking a big certification exam that I stopped going to my strength training class at the gym. It's a full-body endurance strength class and I love the class. It has done more for my fitness than anything I've tried ... ever. I was lazy for the month of June and didn't go again until yesterday.
(You know what's coming, right?)
OH MY GOD.
I can't move today.
I knew I would feel like this. I've done it before and every time I say, "Don't go more than a week without going to class. You'll be SO sore."
Sheesh. It's totally worth it but for the next few days, I'll be feeling every muscle!

Re: What was I thinking?
Well - at least you were thinking "I'm so busy with school" instead of "Yay! Ice cream!".
Good job on getting back to the gym - even if it's gimping your way through for the rest of the week.
Lots of Aleve or Advil & a Thermacare thingie will make you feel better!
I am joining a gym this week, in part so I can start lifting again, and I know I'm going to be miserably sore for the first week or so. On the other hand the tight, defined arms & legs will be worth it! Too bad we're women of a certain age who can't get away with ignoring the gym anymore!
Anota - Unfortunately, I did engage in some celebratory ice cream so I have some making up to do!
Jen - You aren't kidding about being a woman of a certain age, my friend. That's why I'm doing this. I'm fighting the aging process by tightening up my muscles and strengthening my "foundation"! Good luck to you. Keep me posted!
