More D&R!

I bought two white floating shelves last week. I want to put them in the bathroom, but I can't decide which wall - the one directly behind the toilet (not quite pictured) or the wall to the left of the window (above the TP holder).

So, behind toilet or next to toilet?

Re: More D&R!

  • I can argue for either - behind the toilet because (I'm assuming) there is nothing on that wall and it won't compete with the window and make that wall too crowded.  Would they show up in the mirror?  Or is the only person who is ever going to look at them going to be the guy who's peeing?

Hang them on the window wall because they make more of an impact when you walk into the bathroom.

P.S. I have that exact same shower curtain in my guest bathroom.

  • I think they would look better behind the toilet.

  • Hawki, that was my train of thought. Right now I just have an e-pic (kissing even) in a white frame thrown up there, so I'll replace that with something, but I was thinking about a white mounted cabinet at some point.

And because you can't even see the toilet wall unless you're looking in the mirror, I thought the window wall would be better since you would see that upon entrance and I could put happy stuff on it.

  • I think putting two on the window wall might look a little crowded. I could see one, but I'm not sure about two. I would have to see it. But, like you guys pointed out, if it is behind the toilet no one would see it. So... idk, I'm a horrible decorator.

  • I would say the one behind the toilet, otherwise you run the risk of bumping into them every time you sit down or stand up.

  • I'd say behind the toilet. I like the idea of it being a little more symmetrical, and like others said, they would compete witht he windows a little. You could always hang a smallish picture on the other wall, or do one of those wall art/candle sconce type things to liven up the look of the room from the entryway.

  • I'm late to voting, but I vote for behind the toilet so the shelves don't compete with the window.

    Did you decide yet?

  • Could I do both? I do have two shelves! Or maybe do the two above the toilet and replace the e-pic I have up and put it on the window wall. It just needs SOMETHING.

  • That gets my vote.  Both shelves behind/above the toilet & pic. on window wall.
