The best dining in Baton Rouge

http://www.225batonrouge.com/news/2010/jul/01/dining/

I agree with almost all of this! Makes me SO homesick for Baton Rouge. Ya'll know I am planning my October trip around where we're eating! My favorite part is the Best Service, I'm pretty sure I agree with them too.

  • Wow, some of those have me scratching my head. Superior is seriously the best mexican? ::shudder::
  • That's a good list! I've eaten at most of them and been really impressed. Dempsy's has been on the short list for a while now. I think we'll have to move it to #1 and eat there this weekend.

I wish Couyon's would have made the list for best BBQ.

WHAT!?!? the food there is the BEST!!!!

On a side note, a few months ago we took the historic tour in Philly and a guy in our group had on a Superior shirt. I asked him about it and his brother in law is one of the owners. SUCH a small world.

  • I'm with you Christen  -  that made me hungry! I'm not a huge steak person but DH is and we've never been to Ruth Chris. I'm a big fan of Sullivan's so I wonder how it stacks up.

MT - I'm also a huge Superior fan. It doesn't hurt that they have the best (and strongest) margaritas too.

I find them overpriced and the food is just mediocre, IMO. :

Before you are shunned, please elaborate on what you find mediocre at least give some comparison. I do find that you usually have a good palate.

  • Well, I compare them to the stuff I've had in Houston. Friggin divine. Last time I had Superior for lunch/dinner was a couple of years ago. I had some enchilada dish and it was just completely bland. We went to try their breakfast about a month ago, and holy wow, nasty. I had some mexican omelette and it just didn't work.

I do like me some La Carreta though. :) Their fajitas are awesome. Still doesn't compare to Houston tex mex though..

  • I have to say they left out some of the best
