Sleepwalking....

So, Adam sleepwalks.... a lot.  Last night I hear a crash come from the spare bedroom.  I look over, Adam's not in bed.  I get up and go into the spare bedroom and apparently my super-awesome husband decided that he needed to move the tv to a new location... and by moving to a new location, I mean drop on the floor.  Luckily, it didn't break, and luckily he missed my 55 gallon turtle tank that was right next to where the tv was.  Of course, he doesn't remember any of this this morning... never a dull moment with him!!

My parents came to visit us when we were living in GA and I had to make them lock their bedroom door because otherwise, Adam might get up in the middle of the night and try to crawl in bed with them.  He wakes up in random places... the couch, the spare bedroom, the office... I found him in our dog's bed one night, which of course I took lots of pictures of for blackmail!!!

He also talks in his sleep, which is absolutely HILARIOUS, but of course I never remember to record any of it :(

Re: Sleepwalking....

  • LOL At least you'll never be bored!! What are you going to do if you have kids? It's one thing to drop a TV... it's another when it's a 3-month old baby!
  • I haven't quite figured that one out yet.  I'm thinking I'm going to have to shackle him to the bed... wait, that sounded bad.... I'll just need to put lots of obstacles in the way in between him and the baby so he'll trip up and fall before he ever gets anywhere close.  Or tie bells to him at night so I'll wake up if he gets up... no, nevermind, that would annoy the crap out of me.

  • Stu, I have decided that I need you to post hilarious stories like this every day...you make me laugh so hard!  I don't even know what to say about the sleepwalking, I have never experienced anything like that...HH doesn't even snore!

  • Well, there's a ton of hilarity in my house pretty much constantly, so I'll do my best to keep you informed!!

  • Hehe! Maybe you can put a lock that opens with a key on the door to the nursery? And then... I dunno what you would do with the key. Wear it on a bracelet or something? It's probably not a great idea to have a baby locked in a room alone, though... Obviously I am no help at baby-related things.

I'm suddenly glad that Matt does nothing more than mumble and hug things. He likes to sleep hugging a pillow, or me, or a baseball bat, or a book, or the cat, or whatever he can grab, really. Once he woke me up by grabbing me and dragging me roughly the whole way across the bed, where he proceeded to squeeze most of the air out of me. I was unbelievably exhausted that particular night, so I just started to cry. He woke up and had no idea what was wrong with me.

  • Adam also does my impression of Kevin Bacon in Footloose- angry kick/punch dancing in his sleep.  I don't know how many times I've woken up to a kick in the shins or an elbow to the spine.  I swear, I'm about to bring it back old-school and have separate twin beds.  I should be used to it by now after so many years, but I think I'm going to have to start slipping some ambien in his dinner so he'll sleep without moving around so much!!

  • HAHAHAHA! I'm glad all that my HH doesn't sleepwalk! He's talked in his sleep once that I heard, and he only snores if he falls asleep on his back.

Aww, I probably would've cried too!!

  • This is hilarious - waking up in the dog's bed one time?? I am dying over here!!!

Thankfully DH doesn't do anything in his sleep - when he's out, he's out. No talking, no snoring, no moving around. I am the one who fidgets alot, snores, and apparently occasionally also talks in my sleep. Lucky for me, DH is a sound sleeper. ;-)

LMBO!!! this is SO ME!!! trust me Ambien will only make it worse! When I was on Ambien, I called people in the middle of the night, text, facebook, who knows what else.....the scary thing about that was i also lived alone!

i am not so bad anymore about the sleep walking, usually one of the dogs will wake me up and Chad is a light sleeper so if I get up he wakes up instantly. The talking on the other hand....goes non stop. Apparently when i was little this is how my parents busted me on so many things! I sold my own self out when I talked in my sleep.

Haha, Adam usually talks about boring work stuff.  Last night, he was asking someone if they "had any caffeine back there" and then made this REALLY weird hillbilly laugh.

  • Hahaha Stu that's awesome! Brandon used to sleep walk a lot when he was little. He'd wake up outside, and his mom said he used to love to go... in the linen closet! She'd open the door and he'd be curled up on a shelf lol. Now he just sleep talks, usually if he drink too much Jameson before bed lol. OH a few weeks ago we woke up in the middle of the night, and our iPod dock was gone! We were SO confused, it was  on his nightstand when we went to bed! So he was checking on the floor to see if he knocked it down... and he got up and went over to the closet. It was IN the closet!! He had NO memory of doing that. We decided there was probably an annoying song playing and instead of turning it off he just put it in the closet hahaha. But we'll never really know for sure!

  • LOL Oh my goodness! Footloose impressions? Unconscious Facebooking? Sleeping on shelves? This gets better and better.
  • Lol!  I love the part about him waking up in the dog bed.  Dan sleepwalks and talks too, but luckily he always returns to bed without doing anything too stupid.  But I still enjoy laughing at him.  My favorite was the time he got up and stood in the middle of the bedroom with his arms out, "flying" like a little kid does.

  • hahaha!! This post made my day! I've been known to talk in my sleep... not about anything in particular, just nonsense.. but that's because when I'm tired I turn into a drunk person, seriously. DH came home one night to find me asleep on the stairs- I couldn't even make it to the bedroom!

  • ok ok, I think we need to see the dog bed photo =)

  • I'll have to find it on my computer at home.  Maybe I'll bring it for show and tell tomorrow!  Plus, as an added bonus, I think that was the same night that he fell asleep and I drew cheesy tattoos on his back!!!  Hearts with our initials, etc...  he should know better than to fall asleep around me.  I also have pictures where I've put lipstick on him while he was sleeping!!  Aren't I such a sweet wife???  haha.

  • Ambien is the worst! I was taking it in college and so was my friend and we would do the oddest things...hers were always worse. I'd hallucinate and see gnomes in my room and claim they were staring at my cat. She would do things like text and email people. Then she cried one night because no one would buy her "paintings" (she doesnt have paintings.) Its nuts!

lol oh dear! I took an ambien once when I was in a van with my ex boyfriend and his parents driving from Wisconsin to Washington. I wanted to sleep the whole trip! haha. I woke up part way through to go potty at a gas station and I thought the floor was bubbling, then I tried to buy some chips and was trying to figure out change but I could tell from the look on the cashiers face I was messing up hardcore haha I just gave up.

  • This whole thread is hysterical! Thank you for lightening my mood today!
  • My DH talks in his sleep all the time, and it cracks me up!  He told me I smell like bears once, and another time he kept demanding that I give him the "packet of papers!"

  • "you smell like bears".... that cracks me up!!

  • Oh my lord, I go out for a few hours and the whole board explodes with hilarity...from wisdom teeth stories to sleepwalking and talking, I am literally shaking with laughter.

I just remembered a sleepwalking story from my own past.  I was in junior high school and I slept walked into my mothers bedroom.  I walked straight into her dresser, bounced off it and landed on my side on the bed.  It woke her up and she asked me what I was doing, to which I replied "I've got to finish coloring it!" She asked me what I needed to finish coloring, but I just kept repeating that one sentence over and over until she led me back to bed.  No idea what it was that I was supposed to be coloring.

  • lol I don't sleep talk much but sometimes if someone talks to me when I'm mostly-not-quite asleep I say weird things. One time, I don't know what started it, but I was half asleep and I starting telling brandon "rice!! It's a SIDE!! You can put things on it!" and he was just like WTF?!?! And I just kept saying RICE IS A SIDE! YOU CAN PUT THINGS ON IT and I could tell he didn't understand and that I wasn't making sense, so I just started laughing my ass off, repeating rice!!!! You can put things on it!!! Hahahaha. He was very scared. He had no idea what was going on.

  • I think I would have been scared, too!!  Either that or I would've thought you were on something!
