I'm in love.

With my new iPhone. OMG it's sick how infatuated I am already. Now I understand the addiction.

It is a little hard to Nest on it though. :-/

Re: I'm in love.

  • So how many apps have you downloaded already?

Pandora was the first thing on my Cliq (Droid)

    image
  • Maybe like five?

    - FB

    - Twitter

    - Pandora

    - Period Lite tracker

    - Solitaire

    - Google

  • I don't think I have much more than that either.  I have

    FB

    Pandora

    Shazam

    Google

    Color Note (note pad)

    Accuweather

Our Groceries - LOVE this!  You can make shopping lists by store or by recipe and it saves them for future use.  Also, if more than one person has this and you are shopping together (i.e. you and DH), you can link them so he can take one half of the store while you check off your list on the other side.

    image
  • What is Shazam?

That grocery one sounds awesome! I'll have to remember that one!

  • Shazam was on the phone when I got it but it is the program that tells you the title and artist of a song that is playing.  If you're listening to the radio or there is a song from a commercial you like, you start this program, it "listens" to the song and gives you the title and artist after a few seconds.  I think it also has a way you can purchase the songs too but I haven't used it that much.

  • Jealous!! Why can't they make it for Verizon!?!?!?

I saw yesterday that the iphone is supposed to be available at Verizon in Jan

    image
  • Oh, I HAVE heard of that program but didn't know it had a name!

I think most hardcore Apple fans are still skeptical of the Verizon thing. It's been rumored for like three years, and the sources are unnamed. But I'll pray for you Verizon girls!

  • You need Shazam... I love it - although it does have a quota that maxes out really easy.  There may be a pay version that doesnt but I have the free one.

I also have urbanspoon and yelp for restaurant recommendations and open table is supposed to be for reservations but not too many places here participate so I've never actually used it.

Mint has an app since I know you use that.

I also have apps for my banks/cc and cable company (supposedly I can set the DVR from my phone but I have no idea how to do it)

    Fandango and Redbox for movies

ESPN scorecenter and a college football app.

ShopSavvy is cool - you can scan a barcode and it tells you how much it should cost so you know if you are overpaying.

I also have Lose It and SparkPeople - the Lose it one is actually pretty good, sparkpeople is a PITA to use on the phone.

And I like word games so I have scramble, words with friends, and word warp.  DH also plays mobsters or mafiawars or whatever it is on my phone.

I've had mine for a year and half so I have like 4 pages of apps.

  • Verizon has a version of Shazam.  It's called VCAST Song ID and it's free.  There may be a cap, but I've never reached it.
  • How is the service? Any dropped calls so far? I was playing with one this morning and what they're saying about holding the phone a certain way is so true. I went from 4 bars to no service in a hott second based on the placement of my hands.

We are debating. It is rare for us to not get new tech stuff right away (due to my nerdy mister) but I am so.freaking.tired of AT&T service. I drop calls like it is my job. I love my iphone but I can't use it as a phone!!!

  • I didn't get the 4; I got the new 8GB 3GS. I've never really had any problems with AT&T's service, and I've been with them for the past six years.

Ah. Everyone I know outside of the tri-state (NY, NJ, and CT) rave about AT&T. I don't get service inside my apartment. And I drop about half of the calls I receive. Not a happy iphoner...

    I KNOW!!!!

    Epic fail AT&T. Epic fail.

Apparently the new 4g is better (minus the whole if-you-hold-it-like-a-normal-phone-you-lose-service thing). Jimmy Fallon tested it around the city in places he never had service with the 3g/s and he was able to make call. About freaking time.

  • I've heard so many people say the iphone is an excellent hand held computer but a craptacular phone which was the reason I went with a droid.  But FWIW, on Tmobile if I leave the Twin Cities I am roaming internationally.  Iowa, North Dakota, and Northern Minnesota have all ceceeded from the union.

  • From my point of view... its the iphone not AT&T that has craptastic service.  DH and I have the same plan but he has a blackberry and I have the iphone (3G - its an old one) and mine drops calls all the time.  While I like the functionality of the iphone - I hate it as an actual phone.
  • I'm not too concerned about the phone part. I just checked last month's minute usage. 37 minutes.

Seriously... I must have issues.  I just checked my last month's usage and it was close to 1300 minutes.  While its a work phone, I guarantee less than 100 of those minutes were work-related.  I wish my best friends/family actually lived in the same state as me.

Ditto. This is why I actually need my phone to make calls!

I used 1100 on mine last month and it's not a work phone. I don't have a landline though, so does that make it better?

  • I basically have a few 2 minute conversations with my husband. I really have done a 180 from how I was as a teenaged/college-aged girl. I could spend 5 hours nonstop on the phone with friends or boyfriends. Now I only pick up if it's time-sensitive or my H or grandmother.

  • My biggest problem is I seriously cannot drive and not talk on the phone.  I know its bad, but I do use bluetooth.  Otherwise my commute is so miserable and I'm stressed out over traffic and it taking so long by the time I get to work or home.  I talk to my mom on my way to work (cause none of my friends are awake or they are at work) and my friends/sister on my way home.
